Hermione and Ron: a walk before the ball
Though they were quiet, it wasn't an awkward sort of silence either. She felt perfectly content with him, though the butterflies in her stomach were still making themselves known on a regular basis. They were going as friends and though she had hoped it had been more, it was better that way. It kept them from being unsure and weird around one another as there were no underlying pressures.
Glancing over at him, she heard the hopefulness in his voice. "I'm actually not sure yet," she responded, looking back in front of her. "That would mean nothing would get finished tonight and most of the day tomorrow, and losing that much time will put me behind." It was something she had explained before and she knew that both Ron and Harry would be disappointed.
Sighing, she fiddled momentarily with the corsage on her wrist, thinking. "I suppose I could come, though if it lasts too terribly long, I might have to leave early." She hoped that would be a good enough compromise.
