Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Susan Bones and Justin Finch-Fletchley
Where: Outside
What: Talking and sweaty unpretty Justin after a run
Rating: G?
Status: Incomplete

Snow was pretty, even if it was cold and Susan was sort of already getting sick of it but here she was in her coat, house scarf and jeans heading out to the grounds to ‘enjoy’ the white scenery. Some how she thought it was a good idea to go purposefully get cold. Her red hair was down and loose around her shoulders, she had to save her ears some how. Of course she was going to cheat with a warming charm. Susan was just peaking up over the stairs at the moment pulling her wand from her coat pocket and casting the warming charm over her.

Heading out the main doors of the school she looked around before carefully walking down the stairs. She almost slipped but she was ready to steady herself so caught herself. Susan was safely down the stone steps and walking out onto the snowy grass when she saw a running body coming towards her. Was that Justin?

It was Justin! He'd been feeling the need to get out of the castle walls to think properly. His brain had been jumbled for the most part what with apprenticeships, the oncoming holiday cheer, and general stresses of exams that were quickly arriving. As he did every time this feeling came over him Justin cleared his head with a jog. After Ancient Runes he'd decided to squeeze some time in before dinner.

Dressed in a black pair of windpants, two sweat shirts, a pair of trainers, and a handful of warming charms the boy had managed relatively well through the snow. Sure he'd had to melt the stuff a bit on his way out for the sake of being able to form a path but the jog back wasn't half as bad if he followed the same rout. The harsh chill of the air helped numb his face and in turn helped the boy regain a sense of life that had otherwise been sitting idly aside.

As he approached the castle he'd slowed into a routine jog and eventually settled for a walk. He placed his hands on his hips and concentrated on relaxing his breathing. The cold winter air was harsh on his throat and lungs, but for whatever reason Justin enjoyed the sting. Exhaling heavily through his mouth he watched his breath creep into the atmosphere. It took him a moment to realize that the form standing at the front steps of the school was indeed someone he knew.

Offering Susan an enthusiastic smile and smile he slow jogged to join her, "Hey. Cold today, yeah?" He clapped his hands together and gave them a rub for a bit of theatrics before placing them on his hips again. His breath still catching up with the rest of his body he asked, "What brings you out here?"

Smiling back at Justin as he jogged up to her side as she continued her walk in the snow, and found that company perhaps would not be a bad idea. Granted if Justin felt the need to go inside she wouldn’t jump on him to stop so it was really up to Justin if he stuck around. Susan just smiled over at him and nodded her head, “Yes it cold out.” Susan grinned at him as she pulled her hands from her pocket. “Thank goodness for warming charms though right?” She shrugged her shoulders as she really didn’t know what life was like without magic.

“Now as for what brings me out here would be boredom, and I am going to assume your reason was to jog?” Susan sort of asked a rhetorical question as she did assume that was what he was out here for. By the looks of him that was what he had been doing. He was sweaty and not his usual Justin appearance. Susan didn’t have much of an intention to hug him or anything thanks to his sweaty appearance. “Brave soul running in the snow, I would slip and fall on the ice underneath.” She said with mild amusement in her voice.

Justin offered a chuckle, "Yeah - you should have seen me on my way out. I had my wand out trying to form a path every 25 yards. Managed well enough, though. Haven't slipped yet." He nodded his head as if rather proud of the feat itself.

It was something to proud of really. He'd managed to clear his head and he'd returned to a state of mind that wasn't entirely cluttered. It was a good day for the most part and he'd yet to make a fool of himself. It was one of the perks of being a wizard really - magic assisted in keeping him from looking like quite the fool. Jogging in the snow....of all things.

“Why did you feel the need to go jogging in the snow?” She looked at him curiously before looking back to where she was stepping so that she didn’t fall. She was afraid of slipping because she had done enough of that in front of Justin lately. Susan was making a promise to herself not to do anymore foolish things in front of people, but it was sort of a promise that was easily broken.

“At least you have magic though, right.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Otherwise running in the snow would be a little on the nearly impossible side.” Susan looked at Justin and gave him a smile. As much as Susan wanted a relationship with Justin she just got the feeling like that wasn’t going to happen and would rather leave things to being friends if she could. Susan was just pretty sure Justin wasn’t wanting to hurt her feelings or something.

"Most definitely impossible since we haven't an indoor space for it." Justin nodded in agreement. "But, it helps me relax and clear the head, you know? It's like you quidditch lot and your flying - cept I prefer the ground."

Truth was Justin wasn't the best flyer in the world, and anyone who took those flying lessons in first year with him knew it. Hardly a secret to his friends really. Although Susan was in the midst of trying to seem casual and collected, Justin was in good spirits for the most part and entirely oblivious to her internal strife. As far as the boy was concerned they were completely fine.
