Pansy came home from her doctor's visit with good news and a bag of toys and clothes for Cepheus to wear. She was smiling, sipping on a hot chocolate that Rider had bought with her, with Malfoy money of course, then walked into the nursery where she found Draco. She smiled at him.

"Mister Malfoy." She curtsied and then put down the shopping bag. "I bought Cepheus a bunch of clothes and toys. And there's this teddy bear." She picked it up and smiled. "Isn't it just darling?"

Draco looked up from the book he was studying for class and raised an eyebrow at Pansy. Her tune had certainly changed about Cepheus, at least. Draco would have to go out and buy some more clothes and a stuffed toy for Scorpius so they were even. "It's adorable," he said. "You're very happy today."

He closed his book, glad of an excuse to take a break, and pulled Pansy into his lap. "I got a curtsy and everything. Good day shopping?"

	"It was a very good day shopping." Pansy assured Draco and then kissed him softly for a long moment. She touched his hair and sighed happily. Perhaps he'd be happy about it. "I'm pregnant." She told him, a beam spreading across her lips. "The doctor said that I should be okay. And then I visited with Rabastan to make sure that I'd be able to have a Macnair baby." "You --" Draco blinked at Pansy in surprise, then looked down at her stomach. "That took fast. I bet Rider's proud of himself. I assume you told him before you told me. Or that he was at the doctor's with you."

He touched her stomach and then looked up at her, smiling. "I'm happy for you. I really hope it's not twins this time. I think one Macnair baby is going to be bad enough."

	"I haven't told Rider yet. I told him the results haven't come back yet." Pansy admitted, giving him a shameful look. "I got really nervous about it. I know he's going to be happy. "You don't need to nervous. He's been trying to knock you up. And he's surprisingly good with the twins. I think he'll be good with whatever you end up having as well." And hopefully Pansy wouldn't feel disconnected from it.

Draco reached up and tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear. "I'll let you rest a bit before we have ours, if you want to, but I'm looking forward to it. I like being a father. I actually think I'm good at it."

"I don't really think there's such a thing as being too good a parent, Pansy," Draco pointed out. "I'm just trying to be better than my father. Not that that's difficult to do. I just want Cepheus and Scorpius to be happy and well-adjusted when they grow up. No complexes."

He hesitated. "It wasn't... really a date. Did you mean for it to be one?" Draco paused, then sighed. Pansy always managed to get everything from him anyway. Why hide things when her dragging out the truth was inevitable? "It sort of turned into one, in the end. We... You know."

"Still, we should do out best not to be the ones who fuck up our kids, don't you think?" Draco asked, reaching out and tugging gently on the ends of Pansy's hair. "Our parents did enough damage to last a couple generations. My father in particular."

Draco rolled his eyes at Pansy. "Define better. I feel more relaxed, if that's what you mean. I'm willing to admit I probably needed to get laid, but still, Pansy. It's cruel to Charlie."

Draco looked at Pansy for a moment and then nodded. "I won't mention him again. I'm sorry," he said. He could always go to someone else if he needed to talk about Lucius.

He ran a hand through his hair. "I like him. A lot. He was my boyfriend, Pans. We get along really well still, even though I cheated on him and he shouldn't be as friendly with me as he is. How I fell is irrelevent at least until I finish my NEWTs."

"And in two months, I will," Draco promised Pansy. "In two months I'll be able to, but for now..." He shrugged. "I have a lot on my plate, Pansy. School, NEWTs, the twins, making sure I don't completely shut you and mother out of my life."

He kissed her forehead. "I have plenty of time to find someone to be with. I'm not worried, but it's nice that you are. You've got Rider and you're having a baby and you're happy together. Maybe you should just focus on that."

"You are my husband, Draco. I will worry about you as well." Pansy informed him, a deep frown on her face. "You may think that you're struggling and doing all of this, but you're not, Draco. Because you're not doing it all by yourself. Not everything is on your shoulders and you are selfish to think that it is."

Pansy shook her head. "I can take care of the twins. Rider can take care of the twins. Study. Do all the studying you want, but you can't let this take over your life and make you a miserable old man like your father. Because you know what miserable old men do? They make their family miserable too."

"I..." Draco blinked at Pansy for a moment, then frowned back at her. "Selfish?" he repeated. "I am not selfish. I know I'm not taking care of them by myself. I'm away at school five days a week. My mother and Charlie help as well as you and Rider."

He shook his head. "But that... I love you, Pansy, but if you think I'm letting something take over my life or turning into my father? I'm sorry, but you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. I'm studying this much now so I can be happy later. I want a career. Good NEWT scores mean I can have that. As for being a miserable old man, I'm seventeen. I have plenty of time to find someone to be with and I have other priorities right now. You're happy with Rider. I'm glad. I don't need to be paired off right now too."

Draco moved Pansy out of his lap and got to his feet, grabbing his textbooks. "Before you go around calling me selfish and telling me I'm going to make you miserable unless I start dating someone, go into the nursery and look at both your sons. Maybe try holding Scorpius for five fucking minutes. He's not even six months old. You can't keep putting his father's sins on him. Not when you're going out and buying Cepheus toys and clothes. Talk about giving children complexes."

He rubbed his cheek where she'd slapped him. "You talk to me like that all the time," he said. "I know you've got it hard right now, Pansy. I'm not trying to debate that. But I wish you would just... I don't know. Let me know you don't think I'm just a self-centered, foppish idiot, because that's how you act. I'm trying to grow up, Pans. Into someone I'll be proud of. I'd like you to be proud of me too."
