Scorpius loved his family, but spending a month locked up in the manor with them could sometimes be a bit... much. Especially because Cepheus bored easily and Xavier tended to sneak off to spend time with Marigold and Brutus, leaving Cepheus the options of bugging Scorpius or Rory and Cepheus always chose Scorpius. He was far less likely to get in trouble that way. So Scorpius had left the house as soon as he'd realised Xavier was out, and now he was walking around Diagon Alley, bundled up in his winter coat and scarf, peering into shop windows and killing time. He should have called Victoire or Albus before leaving.

Scorpius reached up to rub his freezing nose with a gloved hand and paused, eyes catching on a head of curly hair inside Fortescue's. Would it be weird to go talk to Caspar? They'd gotten along well until the party had started and they'd lost each other the other night, right? Caspar had kissed him. Scorpius was cold and Fortescue's hot chocolate appealed to him. He pushed the door open and ordered himself the drink at the counter, then hesitated for only a moment more before walking over to Caspar and smiling at him. "Would you mind if I sat with you?"

	Caspar was actually freezing. He had just enough money from his allowance to buy himself a coffee, which was why he'd gone into Fortecues in the first place. He'd just settled in and unwrapped his scarf when he saw Scorpius approach him. He looked up at him with a smile and nodded. "Yeah. You can sit with me." He told him. "You don't even have to ask. "Good." Scorpius gave Caspar a pleased smile when he said he could sit, putting his hot chocolate down and then pulling out a chair. "I'm just trying to avoid my family for a bit. I love them, but they can be a bit... much."

He unbuttoned his coat and unwrapped his scarf, settling in across from Caspar. "But it's freezing out. I needed something to warm me up. I feel like my nose is about to fall off."

	"You should try out a warming charm on your nose. That's what I have to do or it literally turns bright red." Caspar told Scorpius, looking the other boy over for a moment. He was so pretty. He could barely stand it. "I have one on my socks too. But, the rest of me is chilled to the bone." Caspar ran a hand through his hair. "I bought myself a coffee to warm up." "Hot chocolate," Scorpius said, grinning at Caspar as he took a sip of his drink. He hummed and reached up to rub at his own nose, trying to warm it up. "I'll try using spells. having them on socks sounds so nice."

Scorpius did not have a lot of experience flirting with people, but the fact that Caspar had kissed him helped his confidence. "Are your hands cold? Mine are freezing, even with gloves."

	"Yeah. My hands are freezing." Caspar held up his bare hands. He didn't have gloves because he didn't like feeling like his hands were restricted. He pulled out his wand and cast a warming spell on Scorpius's socks, then tapped the other boy's foot with his own. "There." He smiled and took a sip of his coffee. "You should warm up soon enough." Scorpius laughed, looking down at his feet. "Thanks," he said. "It's like I'm letting them sit in front of a fire. I might fall asleep on you now."

He put his hot chocolate down, then took one of Caspar's hands in his, rubbing it between them to warm it up a bit. "Your hands are freezing. Don't you have gloves? You should be using your fantastic warming charm on them too."

"I don't like feeling like I can't use my hands. Which are what gloves do. It becomes impossible to use money when you wear them." Caspar pointed out with a small grin. "I should use a spell on the, but it'd probably fade fast. You know?"

But, he liked that Scorpius was touching his hand. "I have choir practice today. We're doing this carol thing on Christmas Eve."

"Choir?" Scorpius repeated. He was just going to keep hold of Caspar's hand until the other boy told him to stop. He smiled at him. "Is it different from the Hogwarts choir, or are you all meeting outside of school as well?"

He ran his thumb over the back of his hand. "My brother Teddy was in the choir for a bit, but he kept knocking people over and trying to stage a coup, so he ended up being asked to leave. Were you in it then?"

"I'm in the Hogwarts Choir as well." Caspar didn't mind Scorpius holding his hand. It was kind of nice. He shrugged. "I'm in this choir outside of school. We're called Wand Directions. It's fun."

Caspar looked down at the thumb on the back of his hand and smiled softly. This was nice. "Yeah. Teddy was... He can sing. He's just very... out there." He studied Scorpius. "Can you sing?"

"Not really," Scorpius admitted, shaking his head. "And almost all the songs I know are David Bowie because my step-dad, Charlie, is obsessed with him. I mean, and I am too, because of that. He used to sing me Bowie songs to get me to go to sleep when I was little."

He picked up his hot chocolate to take a sip, but kept hold of Caspar's hand still. It was nice and Caspar didn't seem to mind. "I'd like to hear you sing sometime."

Scorpius looked around the room, then smiled at Caspar. "It's nice," he said. "I like that you don't have a bunch of other people invading your space. It's very different from what I'm used to, in that respect."

He laughed as he walked further into the room, taking a seat on the edge of Caspar's bed. "Would you sing for me?" he asked. "Just to give me a preview of what to expect?"

	Caspar smiled at Scorpius. "Suddenly I feel very put on the spot." He told him as he stood there in front of Scorpius. But, he shrugged. "Alright. I'll sing for you." Scorpius stared at Caspar for a moment. He'd expected him to be good, yeah, but not that good. "You... sound amazing," he said, laughing and clapping from his perch on the bed. "Especially for someone I just put on the spot."

He patted the space beside him on the bed. "You want to be a professional, right? You have to, with that voice. Teddy's set on being a musician and he doesn't sound half as good as you."

Scorpius smiled at the kiss. They'd come here to snog, but it was still kind of unexpected. In a nice way. It felt good to have Caspar just... lean over and kiss him like that. "I want to be a curse-breaker," he said. "But I have to be able to convince my parents and Cepheus and Aurora that we should all split up the duties of the Malfoy heir for that to happen. Otherwise I'm probably going to get stuck being heir. I'm the first born and Cepheus doesn't want to do it either."

He brushed their lips together again, then reached up to play with Caspar's curls, smiling at the way they twined around his fingers almost naturally. "I love your hair. It's so pretty."

"Well... it would solve my problem. She's our father's favourite anyway." Scorpius liked the noise Caspar made when they kissed. Like he was happy about this happening. It felt really good to have someone like it.

"Everyone's wrong. I like curls a lot," Scorpius said, smiling back at Caspar and kissing him again, making a point of playing with the hair at the nape of Caspar's neck as he let their lips linger together for longer this time. "You should find better company if everyone hates it."

Scorpius kissed Caspar back, smiling and pressing close to the other boy. It felt so good to be with him like this. So natural. "I like the idea of you just finding my company," he said, nipping at Caspar's bottom lip gently. He was glad he'd practiced this with Victoire so many times. Scorpius let his arm slide around Caspar's waist, pulling him closer. "We should go on a date."

He sat up a little to shrug his shirt off, then pushed both his hands under Caspar's and lifted it off, kissing him again. He pressed their bare chests together, fingers lacing in Caspar's hair again. "I really shouldn't be talking about anyone else right now. I'm sorry."
