LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]containedchaos)

Who: Andrew, Ian, Amelia, and Annie
When: Monday afternoon
Where: Just outside Burnham City
What: Hot day = beach time
Bingo: Summer Fun

"Andrew, Ian, Annie, get up," Amelia walked into the living room and stood with her hands on her hips.

There were four fans sitting right in front of Andrew, Ian, and Annie as they lounged on the couch watching a skateboarding competition. An empty box of Flavor Ice popsicles sat on the ground at their feet. It was far too hot for them to be functional. "What? Why? It's so hot," Ian grumbled.

"We're going out to have some fun," she declared.

"Why?" Andrew grumbled. "This is fun…"

"You're melting on the couch. Doesn't seem like fun to me," she rolled her eyes.

Annie put her dolly down on the couch and looked up at Ian. "Daddy, can't we go swimmin' or somethin'?" she asked.

Ian wiped his forehead and shrugged. "We could try to go to that beach… it's like… twenty minutes away."

"Then it's settled, we're going to the beach," Lia nodded and went into her room to change. While everyone else was getting ready she packed a cooler.

The beach was pretty packed but there was a wonderful spot right on the beach where Andrew set up an umbrella and Ian and Annie laid out the towels. "This was a good idea Lia," Andrew said as he sat down on his towel.

Amelia sat the cooler down under the umbrella and flipped a switch. It started playing music quietly. "What is that?" Ian asked pulling his sunglasses down.

"It's a radio and a cooler," Lia grabbed her book and started reading.

"That's cool!" Ian said excitedly. "Hey Annie! Do you want to go swimming? Or we can build a sand castle? Or play with the beach ball?"

Annie contemplated for a minute. "Swimmin! I'm hot! And then we can play beach ball and then have a snack and then build a castle!" Annie decided exactly how she wanted to spend her day.

"Let's go little one!" Ian and Annie took of running through the sand toward the water. They splashed in and pranced around while Andrew and Amelia sat on their towels in silence while the radio played softly in between them.

"So we haven't really talked in a while," Andrew said after a few minutes of flipping through a magazine.

Amelia put her book down. "There's not much you don't know," she shrugged.

"Well… it just sort of freaked me out with the whole dancing thing, it just seemed so out of character. Or like maybe I just missed something."

"You didn't miss anything. I sort of wanted to join on a whim. I needed something new. You know I'm the smart, geeky, vegetarian girl who recycles and wears organic fabric," she shrugged. "I wanted to try something with music and rhythm."

"Makes sense now that you put it that way," Andrew said. "And also Lia, you are not geeky," he nudged her elbow.

"I'm a total geek Andy. I read a new book every two days," she grinned. "I'm okay with that but I'm more than one dimension."

"I know that."

"You do, but everyone else just sees the smart environmentally friendly Alaskan girl," she rolled her eyes and grabbed her juice out of the cooler.

"Do you like dancing?"

"It's been fun so far," she said honestly.

"And the hip hop?"

She smiled and punched him lightly in the shoulder. "It really is fun Andy. You should come watch me practice some time. I'm sure you would understand after."

He grinned. "Yeah, alright. Let me know when I can go and not embarrass you."

"Alright, I'll let you know."

"Do you have like... a little boyfriend or something?"

Amelia laughed. "Yeah right Andy," she pushed his shoulder.

"Alright, alright, I was just asking," he threw his hands up in surrender.

Amelia pulled a face. "Well there's nothing to ask about," she turned slightly red.

"Okay, okay, I'll let you get back to your reading," he picked up his magazine and Amelia went back to her book. Twenty minutes later Annie and Ian came bouncing back up the beach.

"Wanna play beach ball?" Annie asked Andrew and Lia.

"Sure!" the siblings agreed enthusiastically. After beach ball, snacks were doled out and a massive sand castle was built in front of their umbrella and towels.

"Let's go swimmin' again!" Annie said once the moat had been dug and filled. This time she was joined by Ian, Andrew, and Lia. They splashed and swam until it was dinner time. And they all remembered what it was like to love summer.
