Avast Me Hearties

Jack didn't ordinarily go in for Halloween (pirate jokes aside), but he figured he owed Kylie.

After the great silence of July he finally manned up to talk to her. They'd come to a tenuous agreement to take things slow. Sex had been tabled (which Kylie was willing to go along with though it went against every fiber of her being). They went on a few dates to see how it was going to work. Jack struggled with the idea that he was dating a transgendered person, even though for Kylie she'd been a woman her whole life.

September saw them moving closing together. Jack was growing more willing to admit his feelings for her and Kylie was doing her best not to just blurt out how much she loved him. They still weren't very physical, but he had started kissing her again. Kylie was okay with that, having long conversations to override that need.

October had them moving closer to what they'd been before he learned the truth. He was more willing to let her sleep over in his bed. He'd hold her all night and sometimes his hands would wander to places they hadn't been in months. Still, he was wary and he felt terribly guilty for it.

The least he could do was dress up for Halloween at her request. He was meeting her at her sister's cafe where she was holding some minor holiday event. Afterward they'd scout for parties, or maybe even trick or treat in the neighborhoods that were tolerant to older revelers.

He let her talk him into his standard costume as a pirate, but only so she could wear her own version as a sexy pirate (in the hopes that she could later seduce him). It wasn't as miserable as he expected and he actually found himself having fun at Elle's little soiree. He was having so much fun in fact that he didn't shy away when Kylie wrapped her arms around him in public and plastered a big wet kiss on his cheek.

As the evening wore down that tiny crack in his no-touchy armor was beginning to grow. Kylie was of a mind to exploit it as carefully as possible. She stayed close to him, keeping her hands on him, or an arm around him. She whispered in his ear over the music and spoke softly on the long walk home. She'd made up her mind this morning that she was sleeping at his house once the party was over, though she'd been staying at her sister's since her release.

Once they were settled in Jack's basement bedroom she tried subtle hints. She shrugged out of her vest and belt, discarding her gloves and plastic sword at the door. She kicked off her boots, lounging in the comfortable top and leggings she'd picked out for her costume. Jack was reading the signals and chose to move a little more slowly. His pieces were shed one at a time, tossed haphazardly on the floor.

She curled up in his bed, sweet and longing but willing to stow it away. He joined her, a little more hesitantly. He'd been thinking about their first time, and then the last time they were together. They always had to be sneaky, but now... They didn't have to do that anymore, if he chose so.

He moved closer to her, slowly wrapping his arms around her. It wasn't long before their lips met and Jack starting ticking off all the reasons why their intimacy didn't go much farther than this now. Then he started thinking about why it should go farther. Kylie was Kylie, regardless of what she used to be. He loved her for who she was now and whatever came before just didn't matter.

He let those kisses turn deeper, more involved. His hands wandered farther than they had since their split in July and she relished without pushing. She let his affection take its course, happy to follow his lead. Tonight he gave in to the love he felt for her and that need to reconnect entirely.

Kylie could never be sure, years down the road, if her minxy little costume had down the trick or if Jack had finally succumb to his own desire. Either way, it was her most memorable Halloween yet.
