Who: Arthur and Mindy
Where: Burnham City
When: Tuesday evening
Bingo: Dark Secret

His relationship with two people at once didn't quite sit right with Arthur still. Months have passed since the beginning of their relationship and the idea of it still hadn't felt anymore comfortable. He found it easy for himself to like Henri, he wasn't sure if it was love yet, and the emotional baggage that came along with Henri made him hesitant. Willow, on the other hand, was difficult to get along with and understanding her wild ideas about every little thing was impossible. Behind closed doors, though, Willow will let her walls down and she's a completely different person; full of love, compassion, and articulates her feelings masterfully.

When things are good they are truly wonderful but when the three got into fights, which is often, it makes Arthur's doubts question if their relationship is really going to work. All of this had been only adding pressure to his already busy life of college and insufferable work (to pay for it). Shortly after Arthur had gotten into a relationship with Henri and Willow, he began to attend open group meetings for various illnesses and life struggles.

In the beginning he thought the whole thing was deceitful and sort of wrong but it soom melted away when the meetings began clearing his mind and made him feel some sort of stability in his life. Arthur has no support of a family or any friends he really trusts and found comfort in the people who accepted him so willingly at these meetings and listened to him when he spoke... even if it were all a lie. Plus, he had gotten the idea from a book he'd read so if he ever felt guilty Arthur'd just imagine other people somewhere were doing the very same thing.

Throwing his cigarette out near the curb of the busy Burnham city street, Arthur stepped inside the building tonight's meeting would be held in. He saw the sign listing the room number and headed inside. It was the first time he'd ever attended, "Sex Addicts," he read as he looked down at the tore out article from the newspaper. This should be interesting, he thought to himself before entering the designated room. He heard voices from inside so he tried to enter as quietly as possible.

"...and if I could do it all over again I never would've fucked that whore," a bald, rather pale man was standing before a group of about twenty people as they all looked up at him. "Thanks," he said then before making his way over to an empty chair. Arthur made his way toward some empty seats when he was discovered.

"Welcome," a voice greeted him, "you haven't missed much."

Must be the advisor, Arthur thought to himself before sitting down with a nod to the woman who was in charge. A new person, a young blonde, now stood up in the spot that the bald man had previously been standing. Arthur realized the woman had mentioned him not having missed much which made him wonder what she'd meant since the meeting wasn't scheduled to start for another ten minutes.

"Hi," the blonde began, "I'm Mindy O'Conner."

"Hi Mindy," everyone replied lamely in unison. Arthur noticed that he recognized the blonde, Mindy, from the apartment building Henri's penthouse is in.

"I'm new here," she admitted, "and I guess I've just been looking to meet with people that are going through what I'm going through. It's kind of scary," she continued as Arthur wondered how scary sex addiction could really be, "and I never saw myself as someone being in this position. I mean," she sighed, "I guess no one really plans on catching HIV," she paused for a moment as the tears began flowing.

Oh shit, Arthur thought to himself before looking at the Sex Addiction article again and realized it was tomorrow night. He tried attending meetings that were a bit more light hearted than incurable diseases and definitely didn't go anywhere near cancer groups. What a stupid mistake to make and now he'd have to lie about having HIV which was quite the story to pretend to own up to.

The idea of running out crossed his mind, then, but as he slowly leaned out of his seat the advisor looked over at him and smiled, "Mindy, lucky for you you aren't the only new person we have tonight. What's your name, young man?" she said looking at him.

His heart stopped, "me?"

"Well, of course," she said with a look.

"Uh," he paused, "Arthur... Arthur Waters"

"Arthur here is going to be your support buddy," she said happily while everyone began clapping in unison.

Jesus, these people are like robots, he thought to himself as his mouth became dry.

"Aren't you?" she asked with a forced, sweet tone.

Bitch. You bitch. She knows I'm lying, she knows I don't have HIV. I can't do this. Just run. Run now. His eyes flicked over to Mindy who was looking back at him. Shit. "Of course," he replied.

Everyone clapped again as Mindy smiled and had regained her composure. Letting out a breath she continued with her story and Arthur sunk back into his chair, in disbelief in what had just happened in just a few short minutes.
