Ashleigh may have occasionally wondered what it would be like to kiss Dari but it definitely wasn't something that plagued her every thought. Unfortunately, such obsessions were saved for one person. A person she was certain would never notice her... at least, not in the way she wanted him to.

Days before she'd had the misfortune to look out her bedroom window at the precise moment Ed lead his girlfriend-of-the-moment from his house. It had tore her heart from her chest to watch him with the cheerleader but she'd been unable to look away. Even after he'd gone inside, she stood there, staring at the spot he'd just been occupying.

Even now, when she thought about it, it was like someone was stabbing her in the stomach. Ed was having sex... and he wasn't interested in having it with her. As usual, her mother was right. Ed was never going to want her the way that he wanted that unintelligent, big breasted cheerleader. No one was ever going to want her that way. She was going to die a virgin because she was stupidly saving herself for a boy that simply wasn't interested in her.

Ashleigh had been moping about for days and that certainly hadn't changed. She came through the front door and forced herself to smile at her father. He knew her better than anyone else on the planet but they hadn't talked about her recent upset. She was sure to go to him soon, she was just waiting for the pain in her chest and stomach to subside. For the first time in days, he was rewarded with a genuine smile when he said that Dari was waiting upstairs for her and she wasted no time getting upstairs to greet her friend. It was an unexpected visit but her best friend was always welcome.

"Hey," she greeted brightly as she came into the room, shutting the door behind her. "What are you..."

Dari's lips fused to hers before she could even get her inquiry out and, after everything, Ashleigh simply didn't have it in her to resist. She returned her best friend's hungry, demanding kiss as her own hands moved to rest lightly against the brunette's hips.

She couldn't have told you what brought this about but she simply couldn't fight it. Not when she'd spent nearly a week beating herself up for not being prettier, curvier, stupider... anything that would make the boy next door look at her the way he looked at all the other cheerleaders.
