Tobias!!
Mafalda didn't care that she was still upset about what had happened and that her and Tobias fought every time they spoke, she just wanted to spend his birthday with him. Even through all of what had happened, he was her husband and she had every intention of spending his birthday with him. At first she had planned on doing something really special and something for the two of them to do alone. However nothing came to mind. Or at least nothing that he would like came to mind. After thinking it through, Mal ended up asking Estella to watch Caleigh while she put together what she thought would be a fine gift for her husband.

She had spent the day out of the house, like she did most days anymore. Even as a pregnant woman who had no job and not many friends to occupy her time with, Mafalda couldn't stay cooped up in their home anymore. She felt as if she were suffocating in there, so the only choices she had were the parks or to get a job. She definitely still had not gone looking for a job.

Coming in the door with a brown paper bag and a decent sized gift box, Mafalda closed the door shut with her foot and looked at the clock. He had to be around, and probably sitting in the living room listening to the wireless. She set the bag down and pulled out a beer for him while keeping the other bag in her hand.

"Tobe?" she called, moving through the house and peaking her head into the living room, only to see him there. "Hey," she said warmly, stepping in there with a sheepish smile on his face. Even after it happened, she just wanted him to have a good night. Moving in, she sat down next to him, leaning in to kiss his cheek gently. "Happy birthday," Mafalda whispered, handing him the cold beer.

Tobias didn't just feel old because it was his birthday, he felt old in his bones and soul. It wasn't a good feeling, getting older. Even though he was only a margin of the age of some of the wizards in the world reached, it still felt horrible to turn twenty seven. And have a wife that hated you. Tobias made himself at home in the living room, more than a little upset that Mafalda hadn't been home to greet him on his birthday, but it served him right. He'd stopped asking where she went or what she did, even though it drove him absolutely insane not to know where she was. But, like she'd said it was his own damn fault and he didn't have any right to ask anything of her.

He was indeed listening to the wireless, a recap of the weekend's quidditch matches. Tobias looked up from his slumped position on the couch (he figured he could stuff posture for the evening) and raised an eyebrow at her almost loving actions, which was a complete turn about from earlier this week. "Thanks," he said quietly, taking the beer and leaning back just a little, desperately wishing this were a normal thing, instead of an abnormal one. He almost didn't want to say anything more to dispel the moment. He set his mostly empty drink aside and opened the one she gave him with a grateful smile. "Caleigh with Estella?" he guessed.

She knew this would be awkward for him, but Mafalda was ready to just pretend that nothing had happened. Inside, she had been wanting to forgive him for quite some time, but she didn't really know the best way how. This would be a start, she hoped. She really did love Tobias and she probably always would. They had been together for many years and she wanted them to be together for many more years. Even through everything, she was willing to work harder to keep him. Even if Mal wanted to, she would never be able to divorce Tobias like she had threatened. No, she could never do that.

Her hand rubbed his arm gently as she sighed. This would be too weird for him, she knew it, but she had to do something. One thing Mafalda wanted was normality and she would certainly try. "I thought maybe the two of us could spend the night alone," she said, giving him a slightly nervous smile. This was ridiculous, but even she found it sort of awkward.

Quickly remembering the back, she lifted it up and handed it to him. "I wasn't sure what to get you, so I hope this is okay," she said with a shrug. Inside the bag were a couple ties, which she was hoping he'd like, a cashmere sweater with a small heart shaped locket on the sleeve. It was cheesy, but now he had her heart on his sleeve. It was something she had done for him when she was still seventeen, but she thought now would be a good time to rekindle this.

"When we got married, we agreed to share our lives with each other. I'm sorry I couldn't look past what happened, but I think I'm ready to forgive you. I'm tired of not being your wife. I want to go back to the way things were. Please?"
