The house elves could vouch for that last statement -- although he had admittedly gone a bit overboard using the axe as he had. Completely unnecessary. He sighed quietly, walking over to the bed and sitting himself down on the edge. He didn't touch her yet, though.
"You should know," he started, more than a little awkwardly, "that I'm very fond of you. I hadn't imagined that after ... what transpired between us that I would have any desire to see you again, but my ... feelings," it was almost as if the word pained him, "persisted. And now ... I am glad that they have. You make me happier than I expected ever to be in the most unexpected ways, and I would be most pleased to have your hand in marriage, if you will offer it."
That was about the most on feelings he'd ever spoken to anyone, truth be told. "I love you, Ophelia." He opened the ring box for the second time that night, fully expecting ... well, he didn't know exactly how she would react.
And that was very much exciting.
