WHO: Adamina and Timothy Greengrass
WHERE: Horse Piddle
WHEN: Uhm ... the other day.
RATING: G for GUH.
Adamina had been in the hospital for what seemed like
foreverrrr, but unfortunately, it was only over night. The only problem was that Nick had come in and told her that Tim was in the hospital now, too! It wasn't
fair for both of them to be there and Mina was bound and determined to see her husband. She really only got half of the story about why he was there. Something about getting hit on the head or falling and ... well, bloody hell she wasn't even sure what happened and she really needed to find out. Nick had mentioned a room on the same floor as her, so climbing out of bed carefully, she tip-toed to the door of her room, holding her hospital gown closed in the back and the other hand resting on her belly. "We're gonna go find your daddy," she whispered to the unborn little girl, but in response, she felt a light kick which only brought a smile to her face. Peering out into the hallway, she saw the the only mediwitches were going the other direction and she sneaked out and tip-toed quietly down the hall.
This wasn't going to be easy and she knew that. Not only was she holding this silly hospital gown closed in the back, she was barefooted and holding her stomach. On top of that, she probably looked like a bloody wreck. Hair all askew, no make up. And she was going to see her husband? Surely he wouldn't recognize her! Peaking into ever room, she didn't once see her husband, but as she neared the end of the hall, she had to run into a room to hide from a healer who was making his way towards her, though looking down at paperwork. A sigh of relief was given, but before she could sneak out, Mina could hear the faint sounds of a Red Sox game and turned around to see Tim laying in bed.
The room was relatively dark, so she couldn't really see if he were awake or not. She snuck over to his bed and frowned, looking down at him. She didn't like seeing him like this and it was definitely the first time she had to see him like this.
"Tim?" she whispered, climbing onto the side of his bed. Her hand rested on the side of his face, thumb gently carressing it. This wasn't fair, he was far too good of a person to suffer from a head wound. What if he didn't
remember her? Bloody hell. This may be worse than she knew!
His head hurt. A
lot.
Tim could remember various snippets of the time between the fall and this moment, where he was groggily waking up to the sound of a familiar voice. There had been a lot of shouting, hustle and bustle, some--nasty potions that had made his head swim even more. Ryan had been around a bit, maybe because he worked in the hospital, or maybe he'd been a dream, but he was pretty sure he remembered his friend's face and talking about leaving him some things and..yeah, not much more after that.
How he'd been stupid enough to fall off a staircase was beyond him. Though, how his head hadn't split open at the crack against the cement was
also beyond him, so Tim was deciding in this instant that he did not need to think about these kind of frivolous matters, because he was alive. With a throbbing, throbbing headache.
Blinking furiously, Tim was finally able to focus on the face of his wife, and suddenly the reason
why he'd panicked on the staircase came rushing back toward him.
"Mina!" he croaked, pushing his elbows into the mattress to sit up, but only causing his brain to feel like it was getting sloshed around in his skull.
Not a good feeling, and he dropped back down to the pillow. "Is the baby here?"
Mina really, really didn't like seeing her husband this way. Her brows were furrowed as she peered down at her husband. This was making her want to cry, but she knew she had to be strong for her darling husband who definitely wasn't experiencing one of his stronger moments. Her eyes searched him for a moment, frowning as she saw the wheels inside of his head turning. "Oh, Tim," she choked, hand staying firmly in place. Well, until he moved at least. Feeling him move, Mina jumped slightly, not quite expecting that.
"Don't move," she quipped, adjusting the pillow around his head. "No, no," Mina said to calm him down. "False pre-term labor." She rested against him for a moment, one hand on her stomach as she rubbed it gently. "I guess it's common, but they told me to rest for a while, drink lots of fluids. I don't know how that would stop a baby from coming, but I suppose it's the best they can do for right now." She sighed, though smiled reassuringly.
"What happened?" Scooting him over just the tiniest bit, Adamina laid down beside him. This was so silly, both of them here in the hospital on the same night. It just really bloody sucked.
"Oh--
oh."
Now, Tim felt like a bloody idiot. Mina
had said not to worry in the letter, and what had he done? Gotten himself worked up enough to lose his footing on the job, where your footing was nearly more important than your charm work. Stupid,
stupid, and---how was he going to be when there was a
real emergency? Merlin, he'd probably end up stabbing himself with a screwdriver, or--or something!
"I was up on a staircase that...that wasn't finished, and I panicked and--and fell. Like an idiot."
Tim grimaced and twisted his head to look at Adamina, a smile immediately slipping onto her face as it finally
truly occurred to him that she was all right. With her medical history, he'd never thought that the pregnancy would be
easy, but maybe he'd fool himself into thinking that they were just going to be lucky. Their baby,
Daphne (it was still hard to think that she had a name, a name a
name!), was all Tim could think about and dream about and hope about and---
--he sounded like a complete sap, but his family had suffered through so many loses, that this clinging to Adamina and their baby seemed like a natural way to make all of
that go away and never hurt him again.
"So--how long are we in here for?" he muttered, reaching over to push some hair out of her face. Boy, did she look frazzled. Cute, but frazzled beyond belief.
She listened carefully as he spoke of what happened. Oh god, this was all because of
her? Bloody hell, she just couldn't do anything right, first she failed completely at making the pregnancy stress free, then she almost killed her husband. Really, she was more of a liability than she was anything else. Surely Tim was about to kick her to the curb! "Bloody hell, Timothy." She felt like complete rubbish and she was sure her face had lost all color by now, hearing what happened.
Sighing, she rested her head on her shoulder. Frazzled was really and understatement, but she was at least glad Tim was alive and the baby hadn't arrived yet. The feeling of him pushing her hair away caused a small smile to appear. "I'm here for the night, but I'm not leaving your side until it's time for them to discharge you." They would have to drag Adamina away by her butt revealing hospital gown kicking and screaming if they tried to take her away from him. And really, dragging a pregnant woman away was the last thing someone wanted to do. Mina was capable of murdering someone.
Sighing, she looked at him and smiled. "Right pieces of work, we are."
"We do this enough, and they'll dedicate a wing to us."
His arm reached around to press his hand against her side, even though it was getting rather hard with her ever growing belly. Tim's hand pressed gently, hoping to feel Daphne moving around a bit. He'd always been amazed by pregnancies, with Audrey, with Gleny, it was just mind boggling to think that a person was growing inside
there, and to think about all that went along with creating them, the nature and the bloody brilliant way the human body worked, it got Tim all flustered and amazed at the universe around him.
"How about," he murmured, feeling the affects of some potion he slightly remembered taking before Adamina had arrived, "you stay here for as long as they let you, and--if you don't put up a fight, maybe--maybe they can move you here, or me over there, okay?" Tim would love to have Adamina with him all night, but if it was going to stress her out, fighting with a healer, then he'd rather follow the rules.
"I mean, I'm just in a bed, they can do that, right?"
It definitely was getting harder to do anything with Tim since Mina grew that giant baby belly. Most of the time, it was almost impossible to hug him, and while she didn't like not being able to cuddle properly or hug him, she was definitely excited that they were finally about to have a family. A family that their love for each other had created. And they were having a
girl. A baby girl that was going to look just like the two of them and she was going to be
so amazing. It was hard to imagine that this was real, but it was! And they were both so excited.
Smiling softly once more, she nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that sounds like it could work," she said with a nod. But still, would they even let her stay in the hospital? They said only over night, but maybe if she told the healers she kept having the same pains. But then that could result in them wanting to do more tests and ... well, she didn't really want to stay another night at all, but she didn't want to leave Tim.
This was a horrible inner conflict.
"They can do that," she said with a nod, smiling again as she turned her head to kiss him gently.
Tim smiled and let out a happy sort of breath, nearly forgetting that he'd suffered a rather serious head injury. Only nearly, because the back of his head was still throbbing with a headache, though he supposed simply throbbing was better than being cracked wide open with blood and brain spewing---oh, ew.
He kissed her forehead, then her nose, then missed her lips because he had to shift a bit but finally captured Adamina's lips with his. This wasn't the way he he thought he'd be checking up on her, but Tim couldn't deny the rather nice feeling he had at lying in bed with her and falling asleep. Because he was definitely falling asleep. Tim was sure if they'd just sent him home with Adamina to sleep by his side, instead of any of the potions they'd stuffed down his throat, then he'd have made a full recovery.
Okay, maybe their love wasn't
that magical, but it certainly felt like it at the moment.
He attempted to kiss her again, but the potion began to work it's
own magic, and Tim's eyes drooped shut and his forehead dropped to hers. Well. Hopefully his arm around his wife would be enough of a barrier to keep the healers away, because his sound slumber did not seem like it was going to be disturbed in the slightest.
