Nick's mouth actually gaped open a little before she could stop herself from doing it. It was just that---
Nothing had happened? Because he was thinking about her?
It wasn't like Martin being loyal was completely outside of the realm of possibility, but she certainly hadn't expected it now. He had just been acting like such a child, and if he did believe that she had gone and slept with that kid, then really, he had no reason not to pursue Lydia. By all means, she thought he had--with the way that he had spoken to her, the thoughts of the two of them rolling around in the sheets was the only thing that she could think of for hours (and the United were short a few extra Quaffles just for that).
But he hadn't. If what he was saying was to be believed, he had just acted like a good boyfriend... A good boyfriend who she still couldn't not be pissed off at, even as she felt the relief of his fidelity wash over her.
"You know, you're honestly the only person I know that could compliment and insult me at the same time like that," she said, setting her book aside. Nick crossed her arms over her chest and glared across the room at him. "If you really think I 'knobbed'" --honestly, where did he learn slang like that-- "that sorry excuse for a man, then I'll get up and kick you out of here myself."
