So did she smack him, did she kiss him, or did she tell him off some more?
Nick didn't know which one she wanted to do more. On one hand, he was playing around, he wasn't going to say it again and---maybe it had been a fluke, and if it had been a fluke she would want to do more than smack him, but. But if it hadn't been, and he was playing around then she wanted to kiss him because he had said it and meant it and that was a big deal. But that still meant he wasn't repeating it and she needed to hear it, she needed him to say it again because she was caught so off guard the first time that she couldn't be sure of it and didn't he know you couldn't just do that?
Maybe--one more chance, maybe she'd give him one more chance, because she was still a little too stunned to properly muster up a good argument or slap, so--
"No, the part--before that," she said. "What did you say?"
