Wendy!!!
"OhmygodIcouldeatthisallday!"

Psyke's eyes widened to the size of the the plate in front of her, the one that the glorious piece of cheesecake was sitting on top of. It was just--perfect. It was the perfect way to celebrate for Wendy because really what was better than cheesecake? Chocolate cheesecake, yes, but she'd already had that slice and---yeah, okay. Eat!

And gossip!

"So ohmygod okay---" Psyke put down her fork, then hands up to show that she was going to focus full attention on her friend. Even though the cake was...it was teasing her. It was definitely teasing her and the baby was like almost controlling her hands as she reached for the fork again annnnnnd okay, cake. "Okay, so what did you do afterward? There had to be parties, I mean! I've hosted a few of them before!"

Sigh, sigh! She'd never get to host a party like that again, now with the little one on the way, but she did know that she threw the best ones. And would miss them. Ahhhh, okay, no! Having a baby was sooooo much better than a party. Sometimes. When they're not crying and making messes and waking you up in the middle of the night for no reason and---

--babies were great.

Psyke took another forkful of cheesecake because it simply couldn't be helped, but her eyes were definitely focused on Wendy, waiting for her reply.

Winning definitely suited Wendy Tremaine. Bright eyes, flushed cheeks, inability to keep from gri--well, actually, that was what she looked like when they lost, too. It took an awful lot for Wendy to stop smiling, and even Quidditch losses couldn't keep her from her natural state for long. She'd just try harder, be more supportive of teammates, be a better team player--lots of things to improve on, she would say! It'll be all right, next time. But things always had a way of evening themselves out, she also believed, and this was a perfect example.

She stared a little dreamily out of the window their little table was seated next to, fork mid-dig in her toffee cheesecake, her mind flitting in and out of focus on the conversation. "---Oh! Yes! There were lots of parties! But most of the team stayed in one this one pub, for the majority of the time I was there. But it was drunken and boring and Quidditch players are obnoxious party people," she grinned.

If she angled herself just right, she could see Waterstones down the street. Just a slight craning of her head allowed her to see the illuminated windows, and though it was too far to make out anything besides the general size of the dark blurs that obscured the light, it was nice being in such a close vicinity to its Librarian. Wendy had been periodically moving her head to take in the view, as it looked too uncomfortable to be normal, and she wasn't sure she could give Psyke a good explanation.

Wait--wait, did she--was this--? Did this qualify as stalking? Eyes widening at the thought, she jerked her head back to look at Psyke, startled and somewhat harried smile brightening on her face.

"But enough about me! Why--how are you finding being pregnant? Names? Do you have names? Is Harper behaving himself?"

"Harper likes such stupid names, it makes me so mad!" Psyke said with a great sigh, not noticing Wendy's lack of attention. Well--she noticed it, because she always noticed when people weren't paying attention, but at the moment the cheesecake in front of her was ranking of higher importance.

That sounded so horrible but YOU try resisting cheesecake when the little demon inside of you demanding you give her every bit of food in sight!

Okay, she wasn't a demon, but still.

"He likes Samantha right now, which I don't like because that can turn into Sammy, which is a boy's name to me, but then he changes his mind every five seconds so I can't really think about any, except---" She shrugged back and forth, feet tapping impatiently on the bar underneath her chair. "I kinda want to give her my mum's name, for a middle, but it's kinda really Greek and I mean, I used to hate my name, so----what are you looking at!"

See, now she wanted the attention, so now it was quite important for Wendy to be looking at her.

Wendy tore her eyes away from the window, where they seemed to wander of their own accord, abashedly.

"Noo," she said, waving it off playfully. "It's nothing, I just--know the man who runs Waterstones, and it's a--nice place. To go." Equivocating, she was equivocating, and Wendy was one of the most straightforward people on the planet. Beating around the bush was not in her modus operandi, therefore she was always terrible at it. But better a slightly suspicious best friend than fully admitting to her shame, right?

She picked at her cheesecake some more, looking at Psyke speculatively. "Did you hate your name? I think it's lovely. And you are the one carrying the baby, you should get to veto whatever names you want."

For what felt like the first time in her life, Psyke managed to push her story/concerns aside and pay close attention to someone else. Okay, it probably wasn't the first, given the fact that her brother was a near nut job and had come to her numerous times during his ridiculous ordeals (but she loves her KisKis just the same!), but right now it felt like it was. Especially since she found out she was pregnant! The baby and herself were all she was really able to think about!

Hungry tired sleepy exhausted nauseous angry giddy upset dreadful loopy IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH TO HANDLE AND TRY TO HANDLE OTHER PEOPLE'S EMOTIONS!!!!

Sigh.

"Psyke is a stupid name and you know it, I'm just very lucky I became a famous supermodel so I could get away with it," she answered quickly, taking another bite off the end of her fork before pointing the prongs at Wendy. "Waterstones is a library, isn't it? As in---where a librarian works?"

Wendy almost choked on her forkful. Well, she had mentioned that Chandler was a librarian, and she might have brought up Waterstones once or twice, but she wasn't expecting Psyke to remember it. Not that she wasn't an attentive friend, of course! But even Wendy's brain tended to shut off at the mention of "library." It wasn't the sort of place where one could expect engrossing conversation when you were the Psykes and Wendys of the world! And it wasn't where you'd expect cute, somewhat broody, skittish libr--it was just a dull place, most of the time.

After her minor coughing fit subsided, Wendy ducked her head and dug at the filling for the cheesecake bashfully. She really didn't mean to talk about herself! It was a mini-celebratory get-together for her, but she really just expect to gab with Psyke! Not, you know, monopolize the entire night. "Yes. I was--wondering if I should stop by sometime tonight and say hallo, but that's silly."

Psyke dropped her fork dramatically, hands going up in the air as if---what, as if being mugged? No, this was one of those happy 'hands in the air' kind of moments, and a second later she was clapping enthusiastically, "Oh my gosh let's go now! I want to meet him!"

Slash see if he really was as cute as Wendy said he was! Psyke could not for the life of her remember a Chandler Midgen from school, but that really didn't say much. The only people she could actually recall were Wendy and Finn McLaggen. Well. She knew Harper was in her year and house now, but she hadn't bothered keeping in touch with him after school, until they met up a few years ago. Not something she wanted the baby to know, but!

"Let's go let's go!" she said excitedly, moving to slide off her seat, but stopping to finish the last of her cheesecake, first. She would want to cry if she had left that much on her plate!

The entire walk down there, all Wendy could think about was how this was not a good idea at all, how she would scare him, how he would think she was insane, how maybe him being in the Tattler really did upset him, and how she had no idea what Psyke would think of him, and that was important, or what he would think of Psyke, which was also important, and--

There was a lot of negativity running through Wendy Tremaine's head on that walk, let her tell you! She was, without a doubt, far more nervous than she had been, playing for the Cup.

Once they were in Waterstones, she caught sight of a dark head bent over a table, helping someone (she did, however, note it was a woman, which sent a very irrational jolt of annoyance through her before it was consumed by other things) with something, most likely. Watching Psyke wander past the large bookshelf Wendy was standing hesitantly behind with a determined look on her face, however, was what gave her a very large, potentially irrational, panic attack.

"Psyke!" Wendy hissed, grabbing her friend and yanking her (gently! She wasn't that fargone) behind the bookcase, peering from between the shelves at the figure that had to be him. "Stop!"

Psyke really didn't have any balance to pull back, or anything like that, so she tottered back toward where Wendy was---hiding. She was totally hiding! This was like in the wireless stories, or the muggle telly shows she watched at Alex's! Oh my God, Wendy completely fancied this bloke, it was so damn cute!!!!

Not being able to get as close as she wanted to, to the bookcase so that she could peer over the books like Wendy was (ohmygoshbelly), Psyke pulled a few out, resting them on the shelf below and giving herself a good shot of the man who had to be The Librarian. That's how she was going to describe him from now on, capital letters, and all.

"What's he doing talking to that slut?" Psyke hissed, the thought that he was merely helping a visitor never coming to mind. She frowned, ready to pull out her wand and make something happen, but at least she had enough sense to keep her wand inside her jacket. Hrmph. This wouldn't do. "What's his name again? Channing? Chan---Chandler!"

Psyke pressed her mouth together immediately, moving away from the opening she'd created because she'd totally said his name way, way too loud. Especially for a library!

A strangled cry of surprise and laughter caught itself in Wendy's throat and turned to lean on the bookcase, shoulders shaking in silent laughter, the barminess of what she was doing slowly starting to catch up to her. She was in Waterstones, with her best friend, spying on the boy she fancied.

This wasn't even something she did during Hogwarts--this was absolutely insanity.

"Did he notice?" Wendy asked, squeezing her eyes tightly. How was it that, even pregnant, unable to imbibe, and do much of anything else that would generally be considered troublesome, Psyke and she still managed to do something they probably shouldn't?

See, this was what best friends were for. "Psyke Annabelle, I should think about killing you!"

They didn't have to sneak after boys in Hogwarts because the boys always came to them. There was not one time that Psyke could recall that she or Wendy had to actually try to get a date, and this was very new and exciting! The Librarian must be a very elusive bloke, to have Wendy in this kind of state! He must be dreadfully handsome, so handsome to completely knock a woman into a silly stupor! Goodness, she had to get a good look at him, this instant.

She peered through the books for Wendy's sake, and was glad to see that her little exclamation hadn't startled The Librarian away from the woman he was helping. Damn it! No, no she wasn't glad about this fact! He was supposed to come over here and talk to Wendy! What was his problem?!

"I'm going to go over there," Psyke said with a nod, "I'll ask him to find me some maternity books and---you can come and say you've been looking for me, or something. It'll look very casual." Yes, another sagely nod from Psyke Brown at this glorious idea.

Oh, Wendy had been knocked into a silly stupor, all right, and it was only a matter of time (her sneaking suspicion told her perhaps not much more than five minutes) before she did something so impeccably Wendy to screw it all up.

"Psyke!" Wendy cried (in a hushed tone!). "How am I supposed to explain how I happened to be in here looking for you, and magically happened to find you with him. Unless we came together, in which case, wouldn't it be rude to not have sought him out to say hi? And what if that woman he's with is--you know, a woman! That would be embarrassing. And what if he sees through our scheme! He's really smart, you know! Raven--no, wait, he was a Hufflepuff, but he was a smart Hufflepuff!"

She peeked out from between the books again and still saw him talking to her. She sighed.

"Go," she mock-moaned, burying her face in her hands. "Before I change my mind."

"Do not worry," Psyke assured her friend, putting her hand out and down in confident manner. This was going to be cake. She already had the lie done in her head, all it needed was a bit of acting on her part. And Psyke was very, very good at acting when it came to something that she wanted. Shrugging off her coat, she handed it to Wendy (hey, she was totally getting her a boyfriend, she could hold her coat for a second!) and arched her back to make her belly more prominent.

No one could be mean to a pregnant lady, it was just fact.

Except she was not going to waddle, because Psyke did not waddle.

She made her way over to The Librarian, and waited patiently by his side before he lifted his eyes up from the books on the table in front of The Woman. Who...ugh, she just had to be decent looking, right? Stupid whore. Anyway.

"Can I help you?"

Ohhh, he was handsome, in that nerdy sort of way. Psyke smiled lightly and sighed, rapping her fingers on her belly, "My friend and I have been searching all over for this one baby book, but I can only remember the cover and it's been driving us crazy." She pouted greatly, silently pleased at the blush growing on his face. "Could you help me? My friend's like--wandering around."

"Oh, yes, of course---" Chandler said with a short grin, and he even offered his arm for Psyke to take. Smooth! Where did she find this guy? As he led the way, Psyke looked over her shoulder with an exaggerated expression of surprise and flattery, and twitched her head at Wendy to get her to follow.
