"Evan---" Her mouth twitched slightly as her face contorted, but Mackenzie refrained from making any other visible signs of worry or unease in front of Evan.
As she ushered him inside, a very familiar sick feeling in her stomach returned, begging the question yet again as to what exactly she was doing here, and just how sane she actually was. But-- Mackenzie struggled with her next thought, unable to even fully comprehend. It was Evan, he would do anything for her, and she likewise. It would be impossible to simply turn him away, especially with Sebastian not there to keep her in check.
This could all be about absolutely nothing. Evan could just want advice about how to handle his sister's impending nuptials. Highly unlikely, however, but possible.
Sebastian would just never have to find out. Just for this one time. He didn't understand. No, Sebastian could never understand the unique relationship she and her housemates had formed over all those years, and she didn't think he ever would. Not that he wasn't smart enough, or understanding enough, but simply because half the time even Mackenzie didn't really understand it. By all normal standards, she should have been excommunicated years ago, yet it was only until this year had everything begun to fall apart. What did that say?
Mackenzie pulled her lips together tightly, pulling out the spiraling mind vortex she was putting herself in. Sebastian meant more to hear than she could ever begin to describe, but that did not mean she could completely ignore one of the few people left she actually trusted. Reaching out for Evan, she pulled him into a tight embrace, ignoring the fact that she knew how much he despised hugs.
