Tomas took his time taking off his robes as he stood in the foyer of their home. He was extremely exhausted from the day, the last few days, really---the past two weeks had been completely miserable and draining, and as much as he hated to admit it, Tomas had barely been able to handle it. At the office he could always turn off his emotions and manage any situation, but the second he stepped into their home, Tomas felt all of his walls begin to crumble.

The idea of losing Geoffrey had hurt worse than any injury that Tomas had ever endured. He could not begin to describe the helplessness that had engulfed him, and every time he looked at Avis, he saw their next child growing inside of her and---it hurt. He knew that they had information about the Order of the Phoenix that...in hindsight, it probably would not have made a difference to the outcome, but in the moment he hated himself for keeping any sort of secret for the Order.

It was just one small bit of the mess his mind was in right now. Tomas couldn't let himself think about his boss' empty office, or how he had now lost two father figures, because he would just end up losing his damn mind.

"Smells---good," Tomas said as he entered the kitchen. Geoffrey shot up in surprise and waved a cookie frantically around, slopping frosting onto the floor.
