WHO: Finn McLaggen and the newest United
WHAT: Introductions of sorts
WHERE: McLaggen House
WHEN: Today!

As terrible as it may sound, it was ridiculously easy to get his wife and children out of the house. Finn had graciously offered Joy day of children-free shopping, and had managed to get his mother to babysit Cormac and Talulah. Both women had been quite pleased with the arrangements, and if he were to say so himself, Finn was quite pleased as well. The house looked good, though little remnents of the terror that Cormac could be still lingered. They never did figure out how to get that spaghetti stain off of the ceiling...

Anyway, it wasn’t as if he needed the place to be spotless. Finn was just playing good captain, and a good captain was a respectable host, and a respectable host had a clean house. If he wasn’t extremely creeped out by house-elves, he would have had them do all the work, but growing up on an air base taught you the great sense of accomplishment when you finished your chores. Or you never wanted to see a broom again, but that wasn’t the case with Finn.

The doorbell rang and he grinned, using his wand to hurl one of Cormac’s action figures into the sink. He jogged over to the front door and checked the peephole before opening it widely for his newest teammate. Finn stuck out his hand, the smile on his face evident of his pleasure, “Welcome to my home, and welcome to the United.”

He was not a man to make impetuous decisions. He was a man who weighed the pros and cons very carefully, taking his own time to deliberate upon the inevitable consequences of choosing or not choosing. The offer had come some time ago, and while he had not laughed it off right away, he'd not paid it much thought. Other, more pressing matters were had hand, such as the calm before the storm he and the rest of his team existed in, the World Cup, and family. Now that these things proved, if not calm, at least unchanging, he was able to put his mind to that offer which had preyed on his subconscious since its inception.

It was obviously not a thing to take lightly. Lists were made, salaries analyzed, team positions carefully scrutinized. But the more he thought, the more obvious the choice became. In the end, it must have been something that he deemed the best for his career and his family. The promise of upward mobility, solid players with sound reputations, and a place where he could better himself as a player.

He felt a slight sense of foreboding as he stood outside the door of his future captain's residence, only now appreciating that this was the first day of the rest of his career.

With a serious if pleasant expression, Drystan nodded his greeting and extended his hand. "Looking forward to working with you, Captain."
