Who: Sirius Black & Mirabelle Jasper
What: boredom + heat = interesting results
Where: Ollivander's Wand Shop
When: today!
Status: continuing in comments!

Despite the presence of cooling charms, Ollivander's Wand Shop was still hot. Mira seriously questioned the degree difference between outside on the street and her position at the front desk. The sun was beaming through the windows directly onto where she sat, which on any other day would have been enjoyable. But not the day the sun decided to move thousands of kilometers closer to the earth.

Blowing a piece of stray hair out of her face, Mira dropped her head to her shoulder sheer boredom. There was zero interest in getting up from her seat, automatically ruling out snooping in the back parts of the shop. Which.... left her with sitting at the front like she was suppose to. With the boring book that Emmet had left her as a legacy gift 'to be passed down for generations to come.'

Sighing deeply, Mira made an unmistakable face of discontent. What had happened to all the exciting opportunities associated with this job? Apparently they went out the door as so as Ollivander did. Giving in, she pulled the book out and began reading it as she waited for the store owner to return from 'going out.'

Some pages later, the bell above the door rang, indicating she had a visitor. Not looking up and flipping a page of her book instead, she responded in the most uninterested tone possible. "Ollivander's out. He'll be back in an hour. No merchandise can be sold until then."

Although there wasn't a Death Eater (or suspected, blahblahblah Sirius really didn't care at this point, if you walked around with Death Eaters then you were just as good as one to him) working at Ollivander's anymore, the old man was one of their prize assets, almost allies. Checking up on him was something the Order liked to do, as well as some of the other shops in the Alley. It wasn't quite a patrol, considering it was mostly just Sirius and whoever had a day off, wandering around and looking like they were shopping when they were really just trying to be more present in case of another attack.

Eating some ice cream (free from the wonderful Florean) Sirius wandered into the shop and before he could even open his mouth to greet the pretty shop girl, he was blown off by her uninterested demeanor. Sirius made a show of checking the open sign on the door and shook his head, "Ever think someone might come in here just to see your darling face," he said with a grin, leaning on the counter with his hip and looking as casual as possible. Of course, he'd wanted to check in with Ollivander, but this would do just as fine.

"Mira, mira, look it, look it," Sirius teased with her name and gave her a smooth smile. His hair wasn't nearly as long as it used to be - he'd just gotten it cut (or really, asked Lily to do it) and so he was feeling quite dashing, although he always felt that way, it just occurred to him more often when he'd done something to change it up. It had been awhile, since sixth year or so, since he'd had hair long enough to reach his collar. A part of Sirius missed that hair cut, and a part of him hoped that Mirabelle would notice. "Why are you here if he's not and you can't sell anything?"

She knew that voice. She knew that voice all too well. Sirius Black. What was he doing here? No doubt--- no. She wouldn't give him the opportunity to become interested in his presence just yet. Sirius was going to have to work a lot harder than that to get her undivided attention, no matter how long it had been since she'd last seen him.

It wasn't called playing hard-to-get for nothing.

With an undeniable strength of resistance, instead of looking up to him, Mirabelle simply flipped the page in her book in an unimpressed manner. Though she would be lying if she said she wasn't actually interested. Sirius Black had always interested her, ever since school. Originally, it had purely started as just intrigue. He had been a very.... unique character. But then, eventually one thing led to another--- but that was all in the past now.

Mira continued to focus on the sentence in front of her, purposely sounding out each word in her head to read slower. "Because he told me to sit in the front until he returned. Nothing was mentioned of attending to customers." Her left foot swayed as she spoke.

Ugh. He even smelled the same.

Sirius watched her as he licked the side of his cone carefully, it was definitely hotter in here than it was outside - he would have to talk to Ollivander about getting some proper cooling charms installed, poor man would probably have heat stroke one day - and that made his ice cream melt faster than he was eating it. But it was difficult to concentrate on eating a sweet treat when he had Mira there in front of him.

James was right, he was really a dog, but Sirius couldn't help it. Especially when there was such a challenging personality to go along with it. "Generally a retail position involves attending to customers and their whims. I have whims Mira, you should attend to them. The customer is always right, innit that what they always say?" Sirius said, cocking an eyebrow at her. "As an owner of an entertainment establishment, I know how it is to attend to the customer's every need."

Drops of ice cream were landing on her extremely boring book. Her eyelids lowered for a moment, focusing specifically on that fact, on those dots. Mira had half a mind to snatch that cone right out of his hand. But, that would involve looking up, which she still wasn't ready to let Sirius win yet. So instead, she simply flipped another page forcefully.

"Oh really?" Mira spoke, feigning curiosity. Her foot began to sway slower as she took a small breath. "And what whims might those be? Obtaining another treat to slobber all over the desk?" Her voice came off in the most innocent of tones, but anyone would know she was being anything but that. Being a Slytherin through-and-through had at least honed that skill of hers.

She refrained from rolling her eyes. Yes, his pub. Bianca had told her about it. But it wasn't like she was going to Ireland anytime fast, and for that. Pressing her free hand down into the books spine, Mirabelle let out a bored sigh. Ticktock, Black, ticktock.

"There is no slobber going on here," Sirius said with bemusement, "That is actually a rare occurrence and there has to be a combination of circumstances. Like epic drunkenness. Which, now that I am older and wiser," not to mention on Order duty 24/7, "doesn't happen as often as it has in the past. Just so you know," he said reaching over to swipe her cheek with her thumb, pretending she had dust on there but actually leaving a streak of ice cream.

Sirius finished up the rest of the ice cream, taking the brain freeze with eating it fast, in order to have his hands open. He moved to put his hands on the counter and stood in front of Mira, leaning forward a little with a doggish grin he was known for. "So, Mira. Are you going to ignore me all afternoon? Should I find some other pretty and unoccupied store clerk to occupy?"

Unable to stop herself, Mira's brows raised with interest. She pressed her hand further into the books spine for a few moments, then quickly shut it with a snap. Just at the moment, Sirius reached for her, and she bristled. He left a cool water-like feel on her face, and it only took a few moments for her to realized what had happened.

That was disgusting. Her skin had to deal with enough from day to day-- Sirius Black's ice cream spit was not something she needed in her system.

Finally looking up at him with a sour face, Mira opened her mouth to snap back a rather nasty remark. But many things happened that next moment. First, she faltered for a second, embarrassingly caught off guard by--- him. Just-- his face, his hair, how close he actually was to her and-- fuck. Fuck. Then the bell above the door rang announcing another arrival--- Ollivander. Just seconds after looking at Sirius, Mirabelle jumped up from her seat, pushed back Sirius and rushed over to the older man.

But to her surprised, Sirius had reached the other man first. She closed her opened mouth, replacing it with a slightly confused, slightly demanding face.

Sirius loved Mira's reaction. It was like they were thirteen all over again and he could gross her out with a flobberworm or something equally as gross. He didn't know why, never had, but making a girl go 'ew' never failed to make Sirius beam broadly, especially when he knew he'd gotten to a tough cookie like Mira.

He was just ready to duck a slap or a hex when the door opened, Sirius was quick to check his foe-glass and move over to Ollivander, quickly intercepting him before Mira could interrupt. He followed the man into the back workshop, handing over a letter that covered some of the new Order-friendly attack plans since they no longer had an entrance into the Alley through the ice cream shope. Once he was done with his conversation, Sirius wandered back out to the front of the store with a grin on his face. "Sorry about that, where were we?"

What was he doing? Obviously not above spying, Mira placed herself as close as she could to the closed door that led to the backroom which Sirius and Ollivander had just entered. Maybe it was the fact that she didn’t know what was going on, or maybe it was the realization that Sirius hadn’t really come to see her, but either way she felt a bubbling anger build within her. What they were talking about she could really care less--- that wasn’t the point.

It wasn’t that kind of rage angry, no no, it was the pay attention to me kind of angry. She didn’t know why it came over her so suddenly (two words), but it did, and for that she loved to hate Sirius Black because he still had the ability to get her like this.

Ugh she was going to regret this later, she could tell already.

When Sirius finally entered again, Mira had positioned herself back on her chair (she had long given up listening on the other side of the door), with her legs crossed again and her chest leaning on the table. In response to his question, she blinked slowly first, then roughly pulled him close for a kiss she knew he wouldn’t be able to resist. Or at least, one that he definitely had not been able to in school.

Finally letting go after a few moments, she stood up and her hand ran down to his chest. Pushing him away slightly, Mira turned to accompany Ollivander in the back room only after saying in a low tone, “I get off at five.”
