It took a lot of strength not to let out a gasp of shock and surprise--Emmeline knew what was coming but to see Caradoc just---shift and change and! Her hands did cover her mouth in alarm and after a moment of hesitation to compose herself, Emmeline bent to kneel in front of the newly formed cat. In front of--Caradoc. She smiled in amazement and let her hands drop. It must have been mastering this bit of magic that allowed Caradoc such an easy passage back to England.

They hadn't spoken much about--anything, really. It had been a blissful time here in Amsterdam, and it pained Emmeline to think that one day they'd have to return to England and everything would have to be discussed and figured out and turned upside down again. She had half a mind to ask him to stay here, but Emmeline did understand that it would have taken more than seeing her to have made him come back to the hell that was the war back home. She would not have actually wanted him to come back just for her, if it could keep Caradoc alive.

"That's remarkable," she said, slightly breathless. Emmeline didn't know if he would be offended if she touched him in this form, so she kept her hands to herself, still knelt on the old wooden ground. She hoped this was the strangest thing to happen in Amsterdam.
