Much more pleased than she should have been at the idea that her remarks stung him, and at his defensive reaction. "I am not debating your usefulness, I am merely worried about the place you will be making in society for our future family, Orpheus." She could call him that now, now that she knew that she was his superior. "The people of similar ranking are not going to respect you if you don't move up and better yourself, and most certainly aren't going to respect a man that makes less money than his pretty little wife."
Sighing, Juliana pushed away from the wall and finished off her drink, pointedly ignoring his extended arm as she left the living room, traveling out to follow the small string of house elves into the dining room. "I don't believe my family will be very pleased if that's how things turn out--I'm surprised that your own would be." She seated herself, making it just subtly more apparent how much she didn't need him--maybe she was going too far with this, but had she been Daniella, Juliana was certain the very same words would be being exchanged, with no thought to them at all. In that light, she would have been doing herself a disservice to not share her opinions, cruel intentions or not.
Juliana clasped her hands together in front of her and stared hard at Orpheus. "Look," she began, "I am not making a mockery of your occupation, nor have I ever intended to." Lies, but alas. "I am merely looking out for our own future well-being, something that I imagined you would be concerned about as well.. But I suppose I was overestimating your maturity." Okay, so that had been completely unnecessary, but she really didn't care now that she had gone so far. It was amazing, how quickly she was growing tired of him once more--good looks only got you so far, it seemed.
