「ςecilia → ℎooke」 ([info]cecilias) wrote in [info]valesco,
Ahhh no no no, this was not how this was supposed to work. This wasn't how this went! Why had she had to open up her mouth and say something stupid to suggest that she wanted----because she didn't, right? She didn't want him to stay, because that meant that he meant more than just a toy, and that this was more than just a game, and it... it most certainly wasn't. Not if she didn't want to make everything worse. Not if she didn't want to make another mistake.

She had tried with men in the past, and what had it gotten her? It got her to where she was now, pathetic and alone and hurt and messing around with random men she met in bars because she couldn't deal with another disappointment. And that was how it had to be, how it had to stay.

But what did she say? The way he posed the question was a trap if she had ever heard one. Regardless of being a random man she had met in a bar or not, she didn't... dislike him, or anything. Could she really tell him she wanted him to leave and potentially hurt his feelings? Could she really live with the repercussions if she didn't? And--and the one thing she hadn't thought about until just then; did he want to stay for some reason?

The silence in the room must have been tense as she worried on her bottom lip in a very uncharacteristically ungraceful manner. Cecilia quite suddenly appeared as more of a normal woman in that moment than the prissy, put-together pureblood she veiled herself to be, and that fact only added to her discomfort. There was little she could do about it, in a situation such as this, and that was worrisome. This bloody man--

"Of course, I---I don't want you to leave," she hesitated, finally, refusing to look at him as she did so. The vase of flowers on the side table was quite suddenly very enthralling. "That would be very rude and all, but---I am not certain--That is, I don't know if such a thing would be... wise." Ah, did it kill her so much to say?
