As if Darien Dobbs's life was not in a state of eternal awesomeness already, it was certainly in a state of ultra eternal awesomeness at current. First of all, he a super amazing, official and manly hitwizard and was finally racking up some 'cred' around the office now that he had successfully graduated the training program. That much went without saying, as he felt he'd done a fair job of reminding everyone within a 10 kilometre radius of this fact on a constant basis for the past couple of months. Secondly, despite his hectic work schedule, he had found that it wasn't entirely impossible to forego his most favorite party boy lifestyle and had managed to still get out and socialize quite a lot, all things considered.

And thirdly, not a week before he had scored a date with a very fine-figured redhead who apparently had not found him entirely appalling, as seemed the case with the majority of female contact he experienced.

So, basically he was in a flawlessly euphoric mood.

Given that he had been so busy basking in his own personal glow of super fantastic ultra awesomeness--although it didn't help that he had not exactly graduated with the superlative Most Astute either--, Darien could not admit to having noticed his brother's slightly-more-than-usual distance. In his credit, his older brother had never been the most keen on sharing his most inner thoughts and feelings with him of all people, and so it was not truly odd for Derek to not speak to him entirely when he was at his most broody.

Or Darien at his most ridiculous.

But still, had he taken a moment to drop into his new-found Serious Manly Man Mode, he might have discerned something a bit off about the eldest Dobbs before he decided to show up at his flat, unannounced, without Darien having to beg him prior to visit.

See, now that was weird!

He couldn't hide his surprise as he turned the handle on the front door, still wrestling a shirt over his head quite comically as he did so. "Eh?" was the best response he could muster.
