Darien watched his brother sweep past, still grinning quite brilliantly over the fact that Derek had actually come to see him, wanted to talk to him... He wouldn't say it out loud, but he had always looked up to his brother a great deal. Even when he was spending time getting into mischief and saying stupid things, Darien had always wanted little more than to make Derek recognize him for something, or to consider him a friend. He had spent so much time working to become a hitwizard, then to be successful as a hitwizard much for the sake of Derek---for himself too, yeah, cause it was a badass amazing job, but...
However, his train of thought was cut short when the older Dobbs began to speak. Darien's omnipresent silly grin fell from his face and he felt a wave of cold rush over him as all of a sudden the last words he had been expecting came spilling out.
"Huh?" Again, a monosyllabic reply was all he could come up with in response. But in his defense, he was---Dianna was---well, since when was Dianna ever in trouble? His twin sister was the singular one of the three of them that never needed help, never messed up and always had everything in order. "I mean... huh?"
He was almost afraid for the response. Derek wasn't exactly Mr. Sunshine on any given day, but even this amount of solemnity was out of the ordinary.
