What exactly was he telling her? Maggie stared at Adrian as he explained these strange details she had never even had an inkling of. She had never heard of a team owning a contract that way, but apparently they pulled and tugged at Adrian's professional strings like he was simply a puppet. They could literally change his life from one day to the next! Look! They already had, Caerphilly was now in the past and he was heading to Puddlemere. What if they decided that their own roster back in Braga wasn't competent enough and wanted to bring him back to play? Would he have---Maggie blinked rapidly, looking away for a moment to collect her thoughts.

Would she have moved to Portugal if his contract demanded it? That would mean---it would uproot everything. Could she deal with living literal countries apart from her husband while she continued to play on the Tornadoes or any other team in the league? Would Adrian be okay with that? This--this news, not news, this secret flooded her mind with so many more questions, but they all came back to one thing. Would she have stayed with him while all those uncertainties hung over their heads?

Maggie blinked, turning back to look at him after the compliment. Her cheeks instantly grew red and felt that familiar warmth she'd been longing to feel for weeks. Her heart had begun beating faster as her thoughts ran about Adrian's ridiculous contract and the many variables it added to their life. Their life. It was still how she thought about them, and Maggie smiled nervously before she leaned forward, hesitating for a moment before kissing him softly, quickly. A bit like he had kissed her at Tutshill when her nerves had gotten the best of her.

"I'd go to Braga with you," she said when she pulled back, looking Adrian in the eye. "If you wanted me to--I would." Maggie bit her lip, knowing that she couldn't make such a statement and not tell him the rest of what she knew. This was the hardest thing she'd have to say; it could determine the rest of their lives, "I--if anything it would be better for the baby to be near her dad."

She paled, but kept the nervous smile. This was it, and her heart was pounding between her ears.
