The nervous laugh she let out bounced off the walls of the empty stair case. Maggie was shaking with anticipation of his reaction, hoping that he didn't grow angry, that it wasn't a bad thing because once a woman accepted she was going to have a baby it wasn't something that you could easily take away and---Oy, she had not realized how much she was shaking and had to grasp onto the frilly fabric at the front of her dress to try and keep her hands steady. This was much better than how she broke the news to Braith; she was in love with Adrian, and the idea of a child with him was a wonderful thing. It was. Maggie didn't need a piece of paper to tell her that she loved him, or wanted to be with him. Maybe---maybe they would never be together like they were, but she didn't need to be married to be happy. She didn't need that ring, she didn't.

Maggie was done with worrying about what people thought about her. She was done keeping secrets to keep a good face, she was done lying about how she felt when she was a mess on the inside. None of it was good for her, none of it was good for Adrian, and none of that was any good for her children. It had taken her a long time to get used to the idea of being a mother, but once Josef was born Maggie knew that he'd always been meant to be hers. This baby, this girl was meant to be hers and Adrian's. It was a lovely way to think of it, and Maggie was focused on thinking only in the best of senses.

If she didn't, she would lose her mind and she certainly did not want to miss out on anything else in life.

"Y-yes, it's a girl." Her hands had stopped shaking for the most part but her voice still wavered. Maggie had to take a few breaths to stop her tears, but at least she wasn't feeling sad and miserable like she had been for the last two months. She pressed her lips together, trying to smother her smile because she still wasn't sure what all of this meant. "I'm---I'm still very much in shock about it all, to be honest..."

She sighed, involuntarily leaning against Adrian's shoulder. This was a terribly exhausting evening, and she hadn't even danced.
