Richard House : Quidditch Healer ([info]brickhouse) wrote in [info]valesco,
There were two people that Richard decided he had a bone to pick with after this party. "Of course it's a good idea!" Sam had said when Richard had asked if attending the birthday party for a player was a good idea for the impartial doctor. "Worst case scenario: you go home sloshed and alone," Ethan had added, "and you don't get sloshed, ever, mate. I've tried." Then they had both agreed "nothing could go wrong" and Richard now decided that those were the most damning of all words.

Richard was not a heavy drinker. Not even close. Yet, somehow he'd managed to drink enough at the party that he was not his normal, wallflower self. He blamed the pretty waitress that had limited him to one question per drink, which were free so she kept them coming as he got increasingly bold until she stopped coming back. Like a kicked puppy, Richard had wandered off looking for the new love of his life and suddenly found another -- Delilah Spinnet to be exact.

Honestly? Richard hadn't expected her to say yes when he'd asked her to dance. He knew how drunk he had to look, but it was a night of whims and what was one more? Her stupid smile and nod had made him make a stupid smile and nod, and then he was suddenly searching for sober as he tried not to step on her feet and keep her entertained. Then she'd said he talked too much. Him! Richard The Silent! Merlin's bloody beard!

So he'd kissed her. It seemed logical at the time and she really, really didn't seem to mind. In fact, Richard was pretty sure she was enjoying herself because she was leaning into him and, and her hands. Her hands were moving and they were holding on instead of pushing away so, so this was good, yeah? Then she asked if he wanted to go to the VIP Room where there were couches and his mind just sort of stopped.

"C-couches, yeah?" Richard stammered as he tried desperately to focus on what she was saying and look into her eyes, which were quite close to his because she was so bloody tall. He wasn't used to girls being so tall.

Chuckling and feeling a bit silly, but not caring because he was sloshed, Richard found her hands with his and kissed her cheek.

"Lead the way, mi'lady," he mused against her ear as he teetered back on his heel, waiting to be tugged around by the hand and knowing he was going to enjoy every moment of it now, and regret it all tomorrow. But that was tomorrow. He'd worry about it then.
