Grail was more than relieved to hear that he wasn't going to have to board a broomstick that night, but he tried not to make it too obvious. He would have gone, if she had insisted, but he really hadn't wanted to; partially because he knew it would be a blow to his ego when he inevitably did something stupid and nearly fell off the damn broom in front of her. He liked to cling to the small amount of dignity he had left.
"Just fine?" He questioned, the smirk on his face making it clear that he was just teasing her, not actually taking offense. "I think I know a place where you might be more than fine." He reached for his drink, finishing whatever was left before hopping down from his bar stool. He held out one of his hands so she could take hold of it, and once her fingers wrapped around his, he helped her down before leading her out the door.
He walked with her for a short distance, knowing that their destination was close by. They took a few turns down some pretty dark alleys, but eventually he stopped, pulled his wand out of his jacket pocket, and with a flick of his wrist lowered the fire escape ladder for them to climb.
“C’mon, follow me.”
It could have been easier to just apparate, but there was definitely something to be said about the journey to a destintion that made it all the more enjoyable in the end. They only had a few stories to climb, but once they reached the roof, he helped her off the ladder by grabbing her hand, and lead her towards the ledge. From where they were now standing, they were able to see an amazing view of the city’s skyline. They weren’t in the best neighborhood, but he had spent enough time there to know it like the back of his hand.
“I come here sometimes when I need to be alone. I don’t need to deal with anyone’s bullshit up here. Helps me clear my head.”
He took a moment to breathe in the cool, crisp autumn air before he looked over at her to see her reaction as she took in the lights, noting the way they reflected in her eyes. His hand had never let go of hers, and she hadn’t exactly pulled away from him either.
