He'd been practicing his evil laugh for a week! Tristan had decided that he wanted to be scary this year, and what could be more scary than a monster put together by a mad scientist? Vinny could probably list a few things scarier than Frankenstein's monster, or at least Tristan's version; as scary as the five year old wanted to be, he was still pretty cute in his green face paint and flat top hair. Vinny had taken on the role of Dr. Frankenstein and after a bit of a photo shoot with Gleny behind the lens, their trick-or-treating adventure had gone off without a hitch. Tristan had growled at appropriate and inappropriate times and was exhausted by the end of their route. Monsters could still be scary while asleep on their scientist's shoulder, right?

Vinny's vial of harmless potion spewed out smoke and left a trail behind him as he and Gleny made their way through the party. Halloween had always been one of his favorite holidays, but he had avoided celebrating it for the past few years. It was the day he and Marlie had gotten engaged and it had always brought back painful memories. Having Gleny and Tristan to celebrate with, however, kept his mind away from the dark thoughts; they made the holiday fun and enjoyable once more.

"D'you want to make a go at the maze?" Vinny asked, tugging at one of the color-changing leaves of Gleny's beautiful costume. He loved the creativity Halloween evoked in people and draped his arm around her shoulders. "I'll do my best to protect you from the beasties. But you can't judge me if I scream."
