Seth had to admit that he was pleased to hear Larkin following after him stuttering out her excuses and tripping over her words as she confirmed that he was right on so many counts. It wasn't until she started attacking him that he stopped an turned, a line being crossed.
"Me of all people," he repeated incredulously. "You're not talking to me of all people about this. And what the hell is that suppose to mean." He spat, his temper at the whole situation reaching a tipping point. Did their friendship mean nothing. Obviously not as she went on to degrade his profession on top of everything else.
"Oh excuse me, I was unaware retrieving gold was such a noble life changing pursuit. Does your high and mighty profession prevent you from writing letters? Do you use all of your good judgement in your work that you have none left to apply to your personal life?" Seth seethed unable to hold back. It wasn't as if Larkin didn't know. She had to know that Michal had been practically in love with her since their days at Hogwarts.
"He loves you, Larkin. He has for years and you go and do this? Does he even know you're back in the country?" He shook his head so disappointed in everything. "Maybe you should have left me in the Turkish Prison. Then again, maybe Michal should have left you in Jordan." He bit out the words before he could stop himself. After everything Michal had done for the witch standing in front of him, and this is what he gets in repayment.
