Nicodemo caught himself after barreling into a witch that had backed suddenly into his path, skidding and stumbling until he managed to regain his balance. He'd barely taken a breath before picking up his foot to start running again, necessarily heedless of the person he'd become tangled up with upon nearly trampling them, when he saw one of the goons waddle into the narrow street from the direction he'd been escaping toward.
That was a pickle. A quick glance over his shoulder showed that the ones chasing him had not yet rounded the corner behind him.
Decision made, the tension from preparing to all but fly out of the Alley left his body as he helped right the witch, and then slid his arm smoothly around her shoulder.
"While I've got you here, might I beg your opinion?" Nicodemo craned his face away from the street, subtly tugging the collar of his robes higher. "Which one these," he threw his hand out towards the table, "would you consider purchasing? It's so difficult to choose just… one…" His gaze fell on the table, which was a collection of horrible gnome statues in various states of teeth-gnashing and sin-committing.
Well.
"Hypothetically," he added. Although, really, the idea was growing on him.
Nicodemo dared a look back once more before appearing to give his attention wholeheartedly to the woman his arm was around.
