Finally, after all the miles, they were finally at the coast. With the Pacific Ocean lapping at his toes, Kendall had to admit, it was a pretty awesome coast. It was the perfect ending to their little road trip. Except Kendall wasn’t quite sure he was ready for it to end. There was still plenty of time before they had to be back for the start of pre-season.

He looked over his shoulder to spot Anya laying contently on the sand soaking up the sun. It certainly didn’t seem like she had any intention to join him any time soon. Taking just another moment to enjoy the salty water rushing around his legs, Kendall turned to make his way back up the beach.

“We seem to have run out of road.” He commented, settling down on a towel next to hers, arms rested on his knees. Kendall enjoyed this trip they were having, the little bubble they had created outside of everything back home. And now he could understand just a little bit, why Rose had disappeared for so long. Though why with Rupert was still a mystery. “Should we try to commandeer a ship and sail to Russia?”

Anya had been thoroughly enjoying the time she was spending in the states with the Kendall, and she wouldn’t deny it to anyone who asked. She was certain there would be Falcon players who would not approve of her spending so much time with the captain of the Wanderers, but she really didn’t care what they thought. She rarely cared with anyone thought, so she was able to let any minor worries she may have had roll off her back. It had been quite some time since she had laughed so hard and so often, both of them posing ridiculously in front of sights such as the ‘world’s biggest ball of yard’ or the ‘world’s tallest totem pole’. She had collected quite a few souvenirs from their trip along route 66, getting all of her teammates little trinkets, even if she knew they wouldn’t wear them. She made sure to get Michal the most ridiculous hat she could find, since he was the only one who had made a negative comment about her speaking to Kendall.

It wasn’t as though they were dating or anything, she didn’t understand what the big deal was. She enjoyed his company, and he was incredibly handsome, but they were just having fun. Then again, most people didn’t go on extended road trips with incredibly handsome men without being a little interested….

Anya had been trying to soak up as much of the California sun as she could before they needed to head back to England. The weather was so gloomy there, comparatively speaking. She was laying on her back in a flattering green bikini, a hue that brought out the color of her eyes as she looked over at him, squinting against the sunlight when he began speaking to her. She lifted a hand to shield them from the sun, a broad grin spreading across her features before she let out a laugh.

“So we are going from American Outlaws to pirates?” She teased, sitting up on her towel, scooting back a bit in order to lean back on her palms, looking out to the ocean. Her hair seemed to curl more in the salty air, falling gracefully over her tan shoulders. “I wish we could stay here…” she said with a light sigh.

“Should be an easy enough career change, only difference is the ship.” Kendall mused smiling at her laugh. Staying here would be easy. Spending hours on the beach, enjoying the endless sunshine. Kendall couldn’t think of anything he’d rather do at the moment.

Anya’s gaze had shifted to the ocean, but Kendall’s hadn’t left her. He was asking for trouble, he knew it from the moment he sat down at her table and learned she was supposed to be meeting with his dad. He had already had exchanged a few not so pleasant words with his father over the matter, but what was on more thing he did to annoy him at this point.

Weeks he had spent her company, and he would lie if he said he never thought about kissing her. But everytime, he thought of some excuse not too. Look what happened with Rose, what was to say this would be any different. Even if it was, it was begging for trouble with his family. Broadmoors never approved of romance on the pitch, especially among opposing team members.

Sitting here, watching her in the sun, Kendall couldn’t think about how all those reasons were dumb. Anya may be trouble, but she was fun. Kendall couldn’t remember the last time he felt this relaxed. “So, let’s stay,” he tucked a strain Anya’s hair the wind had picked up behind her ear. “I can’t think of single thing I’d rather do than sit here with you until preseason starts. So, let’s stay as long as we can.”
