WHO Meredin Troy and Phoebe Smethwyck
WHEN Thursday afternoon.
WHERE Diagon Alley.
WHY Because they are windowshoppers!
RATING/STATUS tbd. open, incomplete.

Merry was excited to have a reason to get out of his house. He spent twenty minutes telling his mother that he was going to Diagon Alley with a friend and that he'd be back before it got dark. Truth be told, if Meredin was still having fun by dusk, he'd stay out. But it wasn't something he should tell his mother if he wanted to get out. After convincing her it was alright, she too got her cloak on and walked him to the end of the drive, before Side-Along Apparating him. He knew it was a lot of work for her to do that and he had tried to convince her otherwise, but he couldn't.

Getting into the Alley, he told his mother that he would be okay and she finally left. He felt pleased to finally be by himself. He walked down to the archway into Diagon Alley where he told Phoebe he would be standing and he could only wait. He was somewhat excited to finally be spending some time with his friends and he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet as he waited.

Phoebe was so bloody glad to be out of the house. Summer, something she'd been anticipating since September 1st, was not living up to its expectations. Of course, five months ago she thought she'd have her very first 'summer lovin' as the cast of Grease this year had so lovingly sang this year. But--that had dropped rather fast, and while Phoebe was willing to be friends with Elphias now, she was not willing to sit around and pout about it anymore. Nope! She was an independent woman, she would go on dates with boys that weren't Elphias, and she would spend her day window shopping with Meredin and.

Yes.

Independent woman.

"Hi! Hi, sorry, sorry I'm late," Phoebe let out in a flustered tone, pulling out the ponytail she'd only tied up minutes before. She grinned widely though, stopping about an arms length in front of him. "I was visiting my nephew and I haven't seen him in ages and he's just--amazing, so I--forgot. But then I had to change because---" could totally blame this on Cedric, but he was too sweet for her to, "I kind of spilled juice all over me, so."

Phoebe shrugged gently, a teeth clicking together in a sheepish, yet amused grin.

"From a supposedly baby-proof cup, even."

He grinned as he noticed her arrive, somewhat winded. Her story for being late was definitely a worthy one. "You could have told me, I would have made it more convenient for you," he told her, turning on his heel so he was facing the same way as she was and he started to walk a bit.

"Summer just isn't what I thought it would be, you know?" He pushed his hands inside of his pockets. It definitely wasn't close, but he was looking forward to going out more often. Even without company, Meredin could bear to Apparate if he could manage to get himself away from his house. Maybe he could hang out more with some of his friends without having to worry about being bored.

"Oh, no it's all right I wasn't busy, I just get carried away," she said with a genial smile, twisting her tie one last time to make sure her hair was in place.

Phoebe wasn't very concerned about how it looked; back in fifth year or so, that would've been a different story. It was strange, really. A lot of the time she saw a change in girls after they started dating and stuff, that they paid more attention to makeup and their clothes, but she kind of went the other way.

Eh. Time to window shop.

"Yeah, I mean--we're the top of the school now, I feel like," Phoebe's face contorted through a few thoughtful expressions while she tried to figure out her feelings about things, "I feel like we should be doing...really awesome stuff, you know?"

She laughed at herself, but shrugged, eyebrows going up, "I've waited so long and it's just like...huh. Nothing."

Well, Meredin was the same. He didn't seem to pay much attention to his appearance, but he was just naturally equipped with looks. As the person he was, he never made it into vanity. He offered her a smile as he understood what she was saying.

But he was excited to be out with Phoebe, even if it was midway through his summer vacation. "Aside from being awesome, you mean? Because we already do that." He laughed a little. "Yeah, I know what you mean. We should be throwing parties and signing autographs and whatnot."

He continued to walk, kicking at a loose cobblestone. A grin winded across his face as he noticed a bright pink neon vest in the window of a store. It just happened to be the color Phoebe had mentioned. He laughed and pointed, "Well, look at that," he mused.

Phoebe stopped dead in her tracks, a very mischievous smile crossing her face. Oh, oh yes.

"Well, that just means you're going to have to try it on," she said with a solemn nod, though her eyes were bright with excitement. "That's far too big of a coincidence to pass by; the cosmos is clearly trying to make a fashion statement."

She stuck her hands on her hips in a teasing manner, head tilted slightly to examine Merry, to figure out if he'd really do it. Phoebe figured it was 95% likely that he would, but he was also a boy, and boys did have a tendency to be stupid about these kind of things. Not that she had much experience with boys, but she did have a brother who was definitely defied all sorts of logic.

He laughed at her response. It all seemed too ironic, especially since she had mentioned to him about her robe shopping a few days ago. He didn't mind dressing up; he thought that the best way to have fun was to make a fool of himself with his friends. It would certainly leave room for plenty of memories for them to laugh about in the future.

But, of course, he was always one to surprise. He moved over to that particular shop and opened the door. He held it open long enough for Phoebe to step inside, before he followed her in. Right behind the display mannequin with the aforementioned pink vest on was an entire rack filled with similar pink vests in alternating sizes.

He moved over to the rack and picked one up, before looking at his female companion. "I haven't anything to match," Merry told her distastefully, albeit jokingly. He had left his house in a grey t-shirt and thin-legged jeans and although it didn't look bad, it wasn't exactly a complement to a bright pink elegant item. "Help me find something else to match?"

Phoebe was doing a horrible job of keeping a straight face. It was much easier to tease and talk about Merry being a fashionista throughout the journals, but this was proving to be far more giggle inducing. Perhaps it was having visuals, or maybe it was the fact that she was a horrible actress (well, not horrible. She'd been an awesome winged monkey in Oz, thanks very much), but Phoebe was barely about to contain herself as she shifted through the racks of clothing.

Apparently, muggle fashion was invading the wizarding clothing shops. Phoebe definitely recognized some psychedelic patterns she'd seen on the telly (or, the fuzzy pictures from the telly, her father hadn't been able to take it in for repairs--so maybe those fashion statements were just static...).

"Ohhh, Meredin," she let out, almost painfully. Wincing, Phoebe pulled out a set of neon yellow pants, that did have the pink on them. They were just in various, glitzy swirls all over the legs. "This might be hazardous to your health."

Meredin watched Phoebe sort through the racks of clothing as he held the simple pink vest. This was going to be too hilarious. He remembered the struggle he had before he left to go to the store with his mother to fit his thin, wizarding digital camera in his jeans pocket (because as a fashion statement, they weren't comfortable and the pockets weren't really for storage) and grinned as he took it out.

"I swear, I don't know if my circulatory system is pleased to fit into something as tight as that," he told her. At least with his camera, he'd have the moment captured. But he couldn't give the pictures to Phoebe, it could result in blackmail for future years. He put a dramatic hand to his head.

"Fashion is health," he said, rolling his eyes back dramatically. He closed his amber eyes before peeking one open. "Does it come in a medium?"

Phoebe flung out the medium set of pants (if they could even be called that) faster than you could say 'knickerbockers'. Holding them up as if they were some sort of holy grail, Phoebe bowed her head lightly.

"And here they are, my liege---" the act didn't last long, and Phoebe broke out into laughter, covering hr face with the pants for a second before finally handing them over to Meredin. Really, she was kind of the worst to go out and do silly things with, because she could never keep a straight face and when she did, it looked like her head was about to explode from the secret she was holding back.

She wondered for a second if the clerk would throw them out for simply being too loud--well, Phoebe supposed that was a valid reason for said kicking out, but how was anyone supposed to keep a straight face when they had clothing like these on their racks?

Meredin grinned and took the pants from Phoebe and in turn, tossed (not literally) her his camera. He blew a kiss and said, "Make sure to get my good side." He turned on his heel, resembling a ballerina, and walked off towards the dressing rooms. Not to mention that on the way, he picked up a few more accessories.

He knew this had to be one of the most humiliating moments of his life, but he couldn't help it. It would prove to be entertaining if he showed snapshots of things like this to his children when he was old. He flailed around in the dressing room for a bit before finally and successfully pulling on all of these clothes.

Finally, he pushed the dressing room door open and Phoebe was standing at the end of the hall. He gave her his best impression of a runway walk, wondering how long it would take her to burst into tears of laughter. He was, indeed, wearing the pink vest, but had scooped up a matching scarf as well as the infamous pants. The Dior sunglasses covering his eyes were only an added plus, not to mention his sandy has was slightly mussed into a faux hawk. The only thing that was somewhat normal was the fact he was wearing his trusty black trainers. What an afternoon!

He was going to kill her. Meredin Troy was going to be sent to Azkaban for the murder of Phoebe Smethwyck. Could you die from laughing too hard? Because--because it really did feel like her sides were going to split open and all her organs were going to slip to the floor and ew, gross, but oh my gosh. Ohmygosh.

Merry had to be insane, he just had to be. Though, she couldn't even tell if he was continuing his fashion show, because her eyes had filled up with tears of laughter and she couldn't see and---yes, they were definitely going to kick them out. Oy, oy, she'd totally missed slipping into the chair and was resting on the floor at the entrance of the changing room, and she didn't at all notice the poor condition of the rug she was sitting on.

"That-that--that, that is---amazing," she managed to let out, attempting to take deep breaths to calm herself. Phoebe wiped at her eyes finally able to actually breathe and get her thoughts away from the neon colors.

"Too bad it's a beach party," she gulped, looking up at Merry. "Though I guess you could always change."
