"I do too," Lily muttered. Her free arm wrapped around James' shoulders and she leaned her forehead against his cheek. Lily would have liked to think that the physical closeness served as some degree of comfort for her husband, but it would have been a lie to say that she was being close only for his benefit. Lily needed to feel like she was helping someone, because even though she couldn't do a damn thing about Marlie, maybe she could get herself under the illusion that she was doing something for James---
Oh honestly, it was the stupidest thing she had ever heard. It really was just an illusion, she knew it because she knew that no one could help her cope with this. And Orpheus Travers was the cause.
It was unbelievable, that someone they had gone to school with had gone and murdered one of her best friends. Even if he had been a cruel fucker, even if so many others they had known had taken the same path that he had, it was still so---it felt like one of their own had betrayed Marlie. And, like James, Lily was completely certain that if someone asked her to go out and get vengeance, she would do it without question. And as much as it should have shamed her, she'd enjoy doing it.
"We'll get him." She wasn't sure how she managed to make herself sound so certain when she just couldn't be, but somehow she did it. For him. "Even if we don't get him today, if the Ministry doesn't lock him up; we'll get him. I'm going to make sure we give that bastard what he's got coming to him."
