Gideon really shouldn't have been there. Gleny was asleep in the hospital, and he'd snuck away after making sure she wasn't faking for his sake. Telling her had been difficult - harder even than finding out because he'd been unable to find the words to speak to her, to tell her that their friend had been brutally murdered. Gideon had crawled in bed with Gleny and explained it, slowly and tried to keep a still face for her while she reacted. Once she'd fallen asleep for good, maybe with the aid of a sleeping potion, Gideon hadn't been quite sure what the healer had been giving her, but the fact that she'd been so stressed out about being in the hospital, with the added affect of grief, it was good she was out, hopefully for a few hours. He'd gotten a nurse to set an alert for him, so his watch would make a noise when she was awake and he could come in quickly.
He hadn't anywhere else to go, however. So the Order house it was. Gideon was standing in front of a foe glass that Moody had mounted on the wall in the room, glad there wasn't anyone in it that he could see clearly. There wasn't danger, right now, but there was. This was...jarring, at the least. Gideon had a child on the way in less than a week and he was brining him into the world where six people had just been brutally killed.
The thoughts made him feel so off kilter and edgy, he jumped a little at Caradoc's sudden statement, blinking at the foe glass slightly and stepping away from it, turning around to stare at Caradoc. "What?"
It wasn't that Gideon didn't hear him, he just wasn't inside Caradoc's mind and not privy to his train of thoughts, but the idea intrigued Gideon. He didn't really know a lot about Travers or about his friends, but that he could remember he was Caradoc's roommate (he could hardly imagine the thoughts that must have been going through the Slytherin's mind right then) but he didn't seem an especially stupid fellow. Generally you could tell by how they looked...really. Not that Voldemort had been known to pick the best and brightest (that's what they were of course, and why they were blindsided by dirty tactics).
