WHO: Davy Gudgeon & Ellie Bell
WHAT: Peace Rally attack
WHEN: April '78
WHERE: Diagon Alley

"Ellie!" Davy shouted, tugging her arm hard and pulling her away from the crowd, just in time to avoid being missed by a huge pile of debris falling to the ground. They fell to the ground and Davy rolled on top of her to shield her from more falling debris.

Once the building seemed to stop falling down around them, Davy pushed himself up and puled Ellie with him, limping slightly "What the fuck! We have to get out of here!" he shouted, grabbing her hand.

He felt bad that he was tugging her around but oh shit people were yelling and screaming and he hadn't been around for last years thing but this was horrible. Davy took a step and let out a yell and fell back onto the ground. A piece of debris had fallen on his leg and broken it. Trying to walk on it was going to be absolutely out of the question. "Ellie! I think it's broken!"

"Come on, Davy, we've got to--!" Elspeth started to yell, not noticing his wounded state until halfway through what she was saying. What finally got to her was the hard tug on her arm as he collapsed back to the ground, nearly pulling her down with him if she hadn't been quick to adjust and catch her balance. Either way, as soon as she heard his cry, she was down on her knees beside him, pulling out her wand despite the fact that she had no fucking idea what to do with it.

"I--I can't--" she stuttered for a moment. Because between the shock of the attack and the appearance of You-Know-Who, and the rush from the running and the having someone thrown on top of you and the absolute pure fear and adreneline that was coursing through her veins, she was having a very hard time thinking straight. This was--but who ever thought they'd have to go through something like this and--! And right, and Davy, he needed her to do something, he needed to get out of her and she had to do it for him because he couldn't and okay, okay--

"Come on, I'll--" Ellie grabbed his arm and put it around her shoulder. "Come on, we've got to get out of here, can you--lean on me, just try to walk on your good leg, I--we have to get out of here--"

Davy let her help him up and cringed, putting his weight on his good leg and gingerly stepping. He didn't want to lean to much onto her but god his leg hurt and they hobbled a few feet before he needed to take a rest, "Ellie," he groaned, pulling out his wand just in case, but pressing his face into her shoulder because every step they took really hurt.

This was absolutely terrifying and Ellie was here with him and it was supposed to be something fun. Ice cream and songs and standing up for what you believed in and now it was turning into a day of blood and god, Vinny was here and Dory too and what if something happened to them? Davy looked at Ellie and frowned. Vinny could take care of himself and and well he was worried about Dory and well she shit. Davy didn't want to leave her here but he couldn't leave Ellie and.

"Let's go," he said, leaning onto her again. He pulled out a shielding spell and used it to deflect spells as they walked. "There! Look there's people leaving over there!" Davy pointed across the Alley where people were disappearing from with loud cracks. They just needed to get over there!

Ellie looked up at what Davy was seeing and immediately nodded. "Come on, you can't keep walking like that--there's a reason you're leaning on me and it's not because I'm a china doll," she urged him. He was hard to hold, truthfully, but she could hardly care about that now. He was hurt and she was there for him to lean on as heavily as he needed to, not so that he could hurt himself further and collapse for good on her. He wouldn't be helping anyone that way, and there was no way that she could move him without him giving some assistance.

Elspeth grabbed his hand hanging over her shoulder with the one that wasn't supporting him around his middle and pulled him up on her further, just to prove the point. Now they just--just had to get--nngh, it looked so bloody far away--

"Wait wha-" he didn't have time to ask because she'd nearly pulled him onto her further and Davy was completely impressed. He had been trying to take some of the weight off of her but... Ellie was a lot stronger than he thought so he leaned on her as much as he thought she could and they went a little faster with her helping him. He used his wand to help shield off some of the stray spells.

"Look, see, we just have to get across the street," he looked to see if they could get across clearly and there were a few people in the way and Davy felt really bad stepping over the people (bodies!) but they needed to escape. "Have you ever apparated with someone? Like, been the person disapparating? I think I could if you haven't but..."

"Side-along?" she said more than asked, and very quickly as they approached the apparition point, thankfully a lot more speedily than she had thought they would, now with him letting her support him. Ellie was pretty certain that it couldn't be too terribly good for either of them for her to try to apparate with her heart speeding like it was, but there really wasn't much of a choice. It was better than doing it distracted by a wound, and when you couldn't even stand up on your own.

Elspeth tried to ignore the sickening feeling that overtook her stomach as she nearly tripped over a dead corpse on the ground as they made it to the safe zone and let go of Davy's hand, holding her wand properly. Merlin, she hoped she could do this, because if she messed up, they'd be in serious trouble. Possibly even more serious than being stuck here.

--but she didn't. And with a crack, they were both gone.

Davy laughed humourlessly as they landed in the living room of Ellie's house. "Ian's going to murder me!" he managed to grind out as she help set him on the couch. Fuck, ouch, he couldn't pull the leg of his jeans up and he didn't even want to try but it wasn't bleeding very much, it just hurt a lot. "Do you have a pain potion?" he asked, taking off his shirt and wrapping it around his shin and tying a tight knot. He bit back a yell of pain, "I need to go to St. Mungos. I can wait though. It's not so bad. Wait until it calms down a bit and-"

Davy cut himself off, flopping back against the couch and pulling his leg up onto the cushion. He grabbed Ellie's arm and pulled her down between his legs and hugged her tight to his chest. The events were finally catching up to him now that the house was completely silent and all Davy could hear was her breathing and his heartbeat. He pressed his face into her neck, trying his hardest not to cry. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, squeezing her a little tighter.

"Yeah, I've got one in the kitchen--and don't worry about Ian, Merlin--I'll just go get that--"

Elspeth was cut off at being pulled on top of Davy, halfway through turning around to go and look for the pain potion. She lay there for a moment, in just a little bit of shock at the sudden move, before carefully, tentatively (he seemed so fragile, with his leg broken and she didn't want to move too much when she was laying in between his legs) brought her arms around him in a comforting hug. "What're you apologizing for?" she asked softly, one hand carefully smoothing down his hair as he buried his face in her neck. "You saved my life, Davy, I should be thanking you."

"Because if I hadn't asked you, we wouldn't have been there and I wouldn't have had to save your life," Davy said, pulling his face back to look at her. He felt really guilty and knew that this injury was his punishment of sorts. It was supposed to be a nice, fun day out but it was just... horrible.

"You're okay though? Not hurt at all?" he asked, running one hand down the side of her face. He hadn't thought she was hurt but maybe she was hiding it from him. "Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"I'm fine," she insisted. "You should know, you're the one who kept me from being hurt." Ellie felt a little guilty that Davy had shielded her from the falling rubble, but at the moment it was a bit overriden by amazement that he actually had done it. She had never had a boyfriend that would have done for her what Davy did, and that he had... plus that he had only been her boyfriend for less than two days, it meant a whole lot. She still didn't know exactly what it meant, but--

But it wasn't important just now. Pushing her palms into the couch on either side of Davy's head, she leaned down and kissed his forehead softly, before carefully sliding away. "I'll get you that potion, and I'll owl Vinny. I'd take you to Mungo's myself, but I can't carry you and I don't want you walking on that leg any more than you have to."

Davy groaned as she mentioned owling Vinny, because well... he needed to go to Mungo's but an overly protective and panicky older cousin? Last thing he needed, but he wasn't going to argue with Ellie because... well he didn't have a reason why he wasn't going to he just knew he shouldn't. So he slumped down on the couch and pouted in an exaggerated manner. Great, he huffed but his eyes followed her around the room.
