hereOrpheus leaned back in his chair and stretched. He had gotten up early and gone to the office to file some things before everyone else arrived and now he found himself in a lull. He glanced over to where Tony sat and noticed he too seemed light by way of work.
"Slow day," he commented absently, tossing a bit of paper into one of the trash baskets nearby.
"Indeed." Anthony replied shortly, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand as he looked up from the extremely uninteresting parchment in front of him to look at Orpheus. "I'm thinking of leaving earlier than usual, actually. Do something more productive, if you know what I mean." He smirked, not bothering with the cautions measures they had to take because the room was empty save for him and the Travers boy.
"Sounds like exactly the way to brighten a dull day," Orpheus mused, throwing away more useless papers. He spun around in his swivel chair after a moment to look at Tony.
"Actually, speaking of brightening days, I wanted to run something by you." Orpheus paused and collected his thoughts before continuing. "How would you feel about Laura coming to stay with my sister and I in London while you go to Italy?" There was no time like the present to ask and it was always good to be forthright with Tony.
Anthony leaned back in his chair to get a more focused look of Orpheus, bring his elbows to rest on the table and his hands beneath his chin with his fingers linked, giving himself a rather thoughtful expression. He should've looked angry, furious, even, because he knew what having your girlfriend stay over means. But why should he stop something he'd been promoting? He certainly wanted Laura to get attached to Orpheus and completely forget about her awkward 'Sirius' stage, and if Orpheus was having his sister over, it meant that he was aware of what Anthony might do to him if he touched his sister in an improper way.
"I don't know." He said finally, running his tongue on his bottom lip. "Have you spoken to my father about it?"
"Laura has asked him, yes," Orpheus responded coolly. So far so good. "From what she tells me he has approved of her coming to stay with Klio and I for awhile. It's closer for her program at St. Mungos and he knows that she'll be well cared for." Orpheus shuffled through some more things before closing the file on his desk and turning back to look at Tony.
"Klio would enjoy the company as well. She has gone to visit her friend Phoebe Something-Or-Other but as far as I know the family isn't keen on promoting the friendship. The girl is wishy-washy and not of good breeding." Orpheus tried to stress that his intentions with Laura, while not exactly innocent, were nothing Tony needed to worry about.
Anthony nodded idly, not bothering to hide his displeasure at the mention of the St. Mungos internship. But no matter how he hated the idea of his sister participating in anything of that sort, his father was the one who made the decisions, and Anthony was simply helpless.
"I'm sure Laura would steer your sister away from that girl." He pointed out, his hand going back to rubbing the back of his neck. There was no need for warnings and threats, Anthony was sure Orpheus knew what he was or wasn't allowed to do.
"So then you approve as well," Orpheus ventured. "Your sister could do wonders with that neck kink," he commented offhandedly as well.
"I appreciate you asking for my opinion." Anthony gave a slight smile in response, his eyes regarding Orpheus carefully. He'll just have to drop by for a few surprise visits every now and then, that's all.
"Of course I would ask for your opinion. I wouldn't want you to think I was going behind your back when it comes to Laura. I also thought that my asking would demonstrate the," Orpheus paused, searching for the right word, "innocence of my offer for her to stay in London with me."
Anthony could've snorted, but he preferred to keep his doubt to himself. For now, he just nodded, giving Orpheus another smile. "Good."
"Good," Orpheus confirmed. He glanced around the room, making sure there was still no one else around. "Oh by the way, did you ever find that girl you were looking for? Dorcas?" he continued in a softer voice.
At hearing that name again, Anthony couldn't help but smirk, even though the memory made his crotch gave a faint, painful throb.
"I did. But my plans didn't go as well as I had expected, unfortunately." Not only he was kicked in a most vulnerable place, but he'd also shattered any possibility of gaining the girl's trust, simply because he'd felt some kind of twisted admiration for her. A huge mistake, obviously.
"Care to share the highlights?" Orpheus asked, noting the uncomfortable expression that has passed Tony's face followed by a smirk. He could only imagine what had happened from the two expressions and he figured the truth would suppress the iteresting and somewhat sexually explicit ideas he had going on.
"It turned out that she was more..." Anthony trailed off, looking for a suitable word to describe the girl. "Feisty, than I had expected. She certainly knows how to use a wand." And her leg, he added silently, smiling a little. "She's one I'd like to see on our side, if you know what I mean."
Orpheus chuckled. "Dorcas was always a force to reckon with. She would be a great addition but good luck trying to overturn her Gryffindor attitude." He looked at Tony for a minute before something began to dawn on him. "Oh you can't be serious. What are you asking me to do?"
"I am serious." Anthony nodded with a smirk, "She's curious, which makes all this possible. And do you have any idea the amount of praise we'll receive if we got her? They stupid Ministry still doesn't know what she's worth, but if she gets accepted to the Auror department, she'll be a very unwanted enemy to us."
He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts, his eyes fixed on the desk in front of him. When he flicked them back up at Orpheus, they looked positively thrilled. "I want you to get friendly with her, and then bring her to me."
