"Gorgeous tree," Giada purred, rolling her shoulders in a teasing manner as she leaned forward to greet Derek. He'd always been one of her favorite people, that was for sure. Giada could not deny that she enjoyed Derek's presence much more than she allowed to let on (but her blushing cheeks and muttered phrases weren't helping her cease), but could you blame her? He was beyond cute and smart and athletic and dashing and just everything a boy needed to make a girl swoon---and Giada was very good at swooning, she'll have you know.
She straightened up a bit, making sure to run her hands down her sides to smooth her dress, but to also give some notice to the way it was clinging to herself. All right, all right! She was being a bit of a tart, sue her! She never was, and she wasn't even being that bad. Of course, she'd had to wear a much more conservative dress when she'd left her house this evening, but that was besides the point. It was Christmas! She was a seventh year! She wasn't engaged!
That shouldn't annoy her as much as it tended to. Giada didn't like the idea of being set up in a marriage, so she wasn't exactly jealous of any of the girls who were wearing engagement rings on their hands (only one, so far---), she just---she didn't know. It was something she was supposed to want, so the fact that she didn't have it was bugging her, so it made her want to....none of this made sense. She'd had too many drinks to try and make sense of her conflicting feelings, and she sighed greatly, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
Back to the whole business of thinking Derek Dobbs was the most gorgeous man she'd ever laid eyes on. "Are you having fun? Find anything interesting to do?"
