Lily stuck her nose up further at his mockery of her tone, which... really just went to prove a point, but what did it matter? He was so frustrating! Why he got to her as effectively as he did was a question she had been attempting to answer for just as long as he'd been trying to figure out why she didn't like him, but all either of them really knew was that Potter and Evans were two names that did not mix.
She watched him show off and scoffed a bit under her breath, managing somehow to look away despite that---well, she was a girl, wasn't she? Lily had no issue admitting that he was good-looking, just as long as it wasn't to him. Anyway, it wasn't too terribly difficult to distract herself by casting her gaze for a moment back over to Ben, who was---yes, he was much more attractive than Potter, and to boot wasn't a complete tosser.
See, if Potter really liked her as much as he said he did, one would think he'd observe the kind of boys she went for and try to act like less of a jackass every once in a while, but no. And that's was really just a slice of what got her about this whole thing. Clearly he DIDN'T actually like her, he just INSISTED upon saying he did and meanwhile causing her torment day in and day out because it was AMUSING to him.
"We're not friends," Lily bit at him, anger having just risen several levels by her thoughts alone. "Gather up your delusions and take them to someone else."
