Nothing too Strong...
WHO: Severus and Everyone Who Wants to Join Him
WHERE: Library
WHEN: This Evening

Severus ran through the entrance of the Library and waved at an annoyed Librarian Pince. When she noticed it was him she gave him a small smile. The old Librarian seemed to take to Severus, calling him and the typical slytherin took advantage that fact.

"Hello Madame." Severus said with a small bow and continued past her to the section of the library that held the books on potions. He browsed the titles and found exactly what he was looking for, a small book on poisons and antidotes that usually went unnoticed by many. Severus figured it was do to its small size but like him nothing should be judged on size alone. Pulling the book from the shelf he made his way toward his favorite spot near the windows.

She never liked his ideas. They were usually elaborate and in the end, avoided what needed to be done in the most roundabout ways possible. Lily couldn't predict what he had concocted to avoid his grandparents, but she was sure he would need either help, or a pleasant call back to Earth.

Lily looked around for him and finally saw his figure against the the flow of the moon through the windows. She stormed over, already feeling a bit angry at him for no reason.

"What's your plan?" she asked a bit bittingly.

Severus was taking notes about a poison that would cause the drinker to have a mild fever. It was simple and the ingredients were in the green houses. Not only was it an easy brew but the antidote was difficult to make, for most people, Severus was quite sure he had the skills to pull this off. He was so into figuring out the the necessities of doing each potion that he didn't notice that Lily had walked in until her scent tickled his nose. By then it was too late to hide his project, which he knew after considering her habits she would disapprove of.

"Uh, hello Lily." Severus tried to close his notes and the book while sending Lily a smile.

"What's your plan?"

Lily was hardly a snoop and liked hearing things straight from people's mouths. She knew she could have looked at his notes or book, but she trusted Severus to give her the truth (even if it took some coaxing first). Few people so quickly got Lily's attitude, but she stood there with her arms crossed and eyebrows raised, waiting for his explanation.

"My plan?" Severus stared a little past Lily's ear. He knew if he stared directly at her face he'd cave like a sugar cube in water. "Nothing dangerous, I do want to remain living after all." Severus motioned for Lily to join him at the table in the chair next to him. He of course did this for two reasons, the first because Lily always intimidated him when standing with her arms folded and the second because he just loved being near her.

Lily's eyes looked at Severus hard as she sat next to him.

"The definition of 'nothing dangerous' is very different between us, Severus, so how about you tell me what your plan is, and I'll tell you if it's dangerous or not."

Lily hardly gave anyone such attitude, but having grown up with Severus since she was a child, she felt she had earned the right.

Severus still avoided looking at Lily straight on and glanced at her sideways. Her look told him everything, she wanted the WHOLE truth, and from personal experience Severus knew he was rubbish at keeping things from her. So instead of trying to come up with a brilliant way to reveal his plan he pushed his notebook and the small library tome toward her so she too could read what he had been reading.

"I'm going to make myself sick, well, not sick, I'm actually going to give myself a fever." Severus smiled at Lily. He thought the plan was quite brilliant. He knew it would work and from his previous issues with health it was totally plausible that he would become sick. His grandparents would leave him alone and he could figure out other ways to ensure that he didn't have to socialize with them. After all the deal he had made as a six year old was only to cover his years going to school. There was just one more year to go and his grandparents wouldn't be able to do anything about Severus's decision not to uphold the Prince Family values.

As she flipped through his notes, she listened to his plan carefully. Lily knew better than to cut him off early and express her disapproval, so she allowed him to finish first.

"What a stupid idea," she evaluated tactlessly. "Once you're better, they'll come see you if they really want to. Or they could visit you in the infirmary. You can't avoid them forever, you know."

Severus continued to smile not letting Lily's words dampen his mood, "No, don't you see Lily, that's why it's brilliant! My grandparents don't really care for me so they wouldn't come visit." Yes, the plan was ideal. His grandparents hated Dumbledore, Severus didn't know why, their hate of course made it so his grandparents stayed away from the school. "Oh, they'd never come to visit me. I could be dying and they'd send a note telling me how worthless I am." At this thought Severus frowned. Like most people he never liked when others seemed to belittle his worth, another reason he didn't really like his Prince Grandparents.

Lily shook her head. "Whatever they want to say, they'll say, whether you show up or not. You're not the only stubborn one in your family."

She looked over his notes for the potion and shook her head again. "I don't like this. Just meet with them and tell them off."

Severus knew that Lily didn't and couldn't understand his grandparents and their ways. Why? Because he refused to tell her about them, well, the WHOLE TRUTH about them anyway. If she knew that he was only in Slytherin because they had offered to dole out the galleons to educate him she would think him an idiot. Hell he thought of himself as an idiot.

In a quiet voice he just sighed out, "Lily, I can't. There's too much you don't know about them. I can't just tell them off, there will be problems if I do."

He looked at his notes and let Lily's words sink in. It was a rather stupid idea, although it would work at getting him out of having to meet with them, but he knew they'd be the more adamant about meeting him. And, who knew, maybe Lily was right and they'd show up here demanding his time. THAT could not happen, most especially since he didn't want them to find out about Lily. Closing the books he let out one last sigh, "I guess I should meet with them and see if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill."

With that taken cared of he turned to look at Lily better. The lighting in the library was terrible and Severus missed seeing the brilliance of her red hair. It had been a while since they had spent time together. "So did you miss me as much as I missed you?" Severus sent Lily a cheeky grin.

"Because you don't tell me anything," she muttered into the notes, a sour look on her face. But when he conceded that she could possibly be right and he may listen, she smiled. "That's better. You know it's the right thing to do, or you wouldn't have gotten me involved to stop you from doing something stupid."

At the sight of his grin, Lily leaned over and planted a kiss on his cheek. "I always miss you, you silly twit."

It was true. Lily'd give anything for them to be resorted somewhere--maybe Ravenclaw was a good compromise--and be together. Even after six years, it was strange not having him around whenever she wanted. And Gryffindors and Slytherins were so nasty about each other! In the beginning, Lily worried that the rivalry would eventually separate them, but they were still going strong, for which she was eternally grateful.

Severus didn't need to look at Lily to understand she was a bit sour at his not being forthright with the information about his grandparents. She wouldn't take it at all well if he said it was for her own protection that he kept information from her. She did sound a bit happier, however, when he admitted that she was right in the foolishness of his plans.

He blushed as soon as he felt her lips against his cheek. When they were young Severus had hated such displays of affection from her but no matter his complaints she paid him no heed and continued to do them. He was happy she was made of sterner stuff than most women because he rather enjoyed her kisses now. In fact he enjoyed them a lot.

Severus placed his hand over Lily's affectionately, "Glad to hear I was missed by a woman other than my mother."

Smiling back, she gave Severus's hand a squeeze. "Of course you're missed, why wouldn't you be?"

Lily then frowned. "You won't make yourself sick, will you? If you do, I won't come visit you in the infirmary."

Severus's thumb began to gently caress Lily's hand absentmindedly while he was in deep thought. A small crease appeared between his brows and his lips turned down in a frown. Lily not visit? That was not an idea he cared to dwell on. It would be very dull in deed if she didn't show up at least once during his weekend stay.

In a hushed voice he turned to Lily, "Well that right there cinches it." He gave her a small smile and shook his head, "Not fair Lily, how you can make me change my mind so easily just by hinting you'll withdraw your companionship." His thumb was now making lazy patterns on Lily's skin.

"Nothing to do with me," Lily replied modestly. "Common sense just decided to suddenly appear for you. You give me too much credit."

She smiled widely at him before slipping her hand from his grasp and onto her lap. He always made her nervous when he acted so sweet. Butterflies appeared in her stomach when she had never eaten caterpillars. She looked down while she got rid of her blush and resurfaced once it had disappeared.

"What've you been up to?"

Severus flexed his now empty hands missing the warmth of Lily's in his own. Not knowing what to do with his newly freed hand he began to organize the books in front of him.

At Lily's question Severus just shrugged, "Nothing much. Just studying and trying not to let my housemates annoy me to the point of wanting to commit mass murder. You?"
