"I found these." Tom threw the magazines that he'd found under Merlin's bed onto the table between them and arched a brow. He looked at them with disgust, at the two men clinging to each other on the cover. He looked back at his son. "Do you care to explain yourself?"

Merlin felt sick to his stomach. The magazines weren't even gay porn. They were just... issues of Gay Times he'd borrowed from Rowan. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at them for a moment, then shook his head. "They're magazines that Rowan left in my room. That's all."

"Don't lie to me!" Tom snapped, losing his cool. He looked at his son, his face going red. "Do not fucking lie to me, Merlin. Rowan just stashed gay porn under your bed? You should have known that the maids would find them when they came to clean."

"I-" Merlin looked at his father, his pulse racing, his face full of worry. "I.. I borrowed them. From Rowan and... I was just looking at them. They're magazines for-"

"For faggots." Tom frowned at his son. "I can take your uncle being gay for your mother's sake, but I will not have my own son being a queer. Do you hear me?" He asked, anger clearly surging through him. It scared Merlin more than he cared to admit. Tears filled his eyes.

"I can't... I can't help it." Merlin told him, bursting into tears as he gave his father a desperate look. "I can't help it. I tried, Father. I tried really hard to not be-"

"Get out." Tom shook his head and stood up. "Leave right now while your mother isn't home to stop you. I don't want you here. You can come back when you've stopped being this way." He got up and left the room, feeling angry as he stormed into his office.

Merlin stared down at his hands before he wiped at his eyes and picked up the magazines. He walked up to his room and packed a bag of some of his clothes and what little money he had, then walked to the street. He pulled out his phone and texted Draco.

I have nowhere to go.

Draco was forcing himself to do homework when he got the text from Merlin. The initial pleasure he got from seeing Merlin's name on his phone faded fast when he read the actual words that went with the text. He had nowhere to go?

Come here. Draco back texted right away. What happened? He had a sinking feeling in his stomach about what had happened. Merlin had promised he was going to tell his father he was gay. What else could it be?

	Merlin got onto the bus he was waiting at and sighed to himself as he looked down at Draco's message. He didn't want to tell him what had happened, because Draco would be upset, but he couldn't see a way around it. He found out. He wasn't happy. He kicked me out. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Of course Draco was upset. Merlin has just been kicked out of his house. It wasn't right. He frowned when he got the text from him. It was about what he'd expected. Tom seemed like a reasonable person most of the time. He should be extra reasonable with his son.

You're going to be welcome here, don't worry. You can stay with us until Christina sorts him out. Or until she kicked him out.

	Merlin sighed to himself and tucked his phone away for the rest of the ride. He knocked on the door to Draco's house and then stepped inside, taking a look around. 	Draco wrapped his own arms around Merlin, pressing closer to him. "Of course," he said, shaking his head. "This is partially my fault. I was pushing you to talk to him about it. To come out." Merlin held onto Draco, feeling shocked that he'd told him he loved him. It was the first time he'd said it out right. He pulled back and looked at him for a moment, then wrapped himself around the other boy.

"I love you." Merlin whispered and held him close to his chest. "So much."

Evan came into the room and looked at the two boys. "What's going on?" He asked, smiling. "Everything alright, boys?"

"Evan's just calling your mother. She's going to find out when she gets home anyway. It's not like Tom could lie about this to her," Draco pointed out. He leaned in and kissed the other boy softly and then pulled back. "Come on. You can put your bag in my room."

If anybody objected to Draco sharing a room with his boyfriend, he was just going to plead emotional distress on Merlin's point. Merlin should get some benefit out of this. Draco wound an arm around him and grabbed his bag, walking towards the stairs. "Mum and Thor are at their cottage this week, but Mum's never going to stop hovering over you after she hears about this."

Draco didn't have the most forthcoming, affectionate father in the world, but he knew that was different from what Merlin was experiencing. He squeezed his hand, leading Merlin into his bedroom and taking a seat. "You're right. I don't know, but I'm here for you and we're together."

He gave Merlin a slightly hopeful look. "We can get through this. Your mother's not going to let your father keep you out of the house for long."

Draco shook his head, although part of him wanted to tell Merlin that, yes, he had to come out to everyone. "Of course not," he said, kissing Merlin's temple. "You just had this huge thing with your father. You can take your time."

He kissed Merlin's neck and then reached up to play with his hair. "Can I do anything for you?" Draco asked. "Get you food? Help you... relax?"

Draco smiled, pushing against Merlin's hand and wrapping an arm around him. "I missed you a lot," he promised, shifting closer to the other boy. "I always miss you when you're not this close to me."

Lucius had heard about what happened from Evan. And he was angry. He'd never liked Tom very much and this just seemed like all his suspicions were being proven right far too late for it to do anyone any good at all. He opened the door to Draco's bedroom and raised an eyebrow at the sight of the boys tangled up together on the bed, clearing his throat pointedly. "Boys, is now really the appropriate time for that?"

"I know what you were doing," Lucius said, snorting as he moved into his son's room and sat on the edge of Draco's bed. "I do the same thing to your uncle quite frequently."

He took in the scared look on Merlin's face and then sighed, reaching over and touching his hand. "I'm not here to yell at you. I'm not Narcissa. I'm not going to try and get you two to sleep in separate rooms. It won't work and Draco hasn't got much honour left for us to defend anyway. Evan told me what Tom did. I want to make sure you know you can stay here as long as you need to."

	"Draco is convinced that my Mum will fix everything. I'm not sure I want her to." Merlin was still tense as he looked back at Lucius. He didn't want everyone to know about him, especially Narcissa. Lucius had had experience living with parents who weren't keen on him being gay. His father had died early on, which had been a blessing, but his mother had let her hatred of Evan sustain her for years before she finally bit it too. He'd had to stay married to Narcissa for far too long, plus Evan hadn't exactly been fond of being so blatantly disliked by his mother.

"Draco, go get a bottle of scotch and three glasses from my study," Lucius said, looking at his son. He raised an eyebrow when Draco opened his mouth to protest and then watched him sulk out of the room.

Lucius turned his attention back to Merlin. "I moved out as soon as I could," he told him. "My parents both hated homosexuals. I didn't go through the same thing you're going through now, but I understand it far better than my son ever will. He grew up with Evan and me as parents. You're not the kind of man who would accept pity, and I'm not going to give it to you. You're clever and ambitious enough to make it on your own. That said, I am going to make you an offer. I still own a flat that I haven't used in years. I'm not willing to sell it until I can make a profit on the sale. You could live there, or I could offer you a loan. Enough money to get you on your feet with a place of your own, to be paid back when you're finished university and employed full time."

Merlin wasn't sure what he could say to the offer. Lucius was being very generous in letting him have a flat that he hadn't lived in in years and still owned, but Merlin didn't really want a handout either.

However, going to university would be fantastic. He wanted that. He wasn't sure he'd get a chance now. "How will I pay for uni?" He asked, shrugging. "I'd at least want to pay rent if I stayed in your flat."

"There are scholarships," Lucius said, shrugging. "If half of the things your parents say about your grades are true, it shouldn't be very hard for you to get enough to cover the cost of tuition. Especially if you're living on your own."

Paying rent seemed fair enough to Lucius. "We'll work out a rental agreement," he told him. "I wouldn't charge you for the first couple months. It'll take you a while to get settled in and start applying for your scholarships and to get a part-time job somewhere anyway."

	What kind of job would he even get? Merlin looked back at Lucius a bit innocently, sadly, and nodded. He could do this. Everything would be fine and he would be fine and Draco could stay with him sometimes. "Okay." Merlin nodded as he looked back at Lucius. "Okay. I can do that. I'll find a job as soon as I can." "Good," Lucius said, nodding in agree meant and smiling at Merlin. He was a smart kid. He'd figure things out and land on his feet. Lucius could get one over Tom by helping him a little. Plus, it would be good to have Merlin owe him. The kid was ambitious and smart. He patted Merlin's knee. "We have a deal, then." He looked up when Draco came back into the room with a bottle of scotch and three glasses. "We'll drink to finalize it."

"Finalize what?" Draco asked, setting the bottle and glasses down on his desk so he could pour them all a drink. He handed a glass to Merlin and his father, then took one for himself.

"Really?" Draco was a bit surprised by that. His father wasn't exactly known for his generosity. He took a sip of his scotch, glancing at his dad. "Thanks," he said. "It's my fault for pushing Merlin to come out to his father."

"It's Tom's fault for being a homophobe," Lucius corrected, shaking his head. "I'm not helping Merlin because he's your boyfriend, Draco. I'm helping him because he's Evan nephew and he needs help. Don't spend too much time at his flat. You need to focus on school if you want to get into a real university."
