I haven't even gotten to the good parts yet.

Well, I like her enough to know that I don't want her to go through with getting married to some pompous French prick that her parents set her up with.

This entire thing is one major clusterfuck. Her parents found out she was just hanging out with me and cut her off - kicked her out of her apartment, didn't allow her any access to her funds. She was supposed to stay with her sister, but then that didn't work out, and I felt responsible, so she's been staying with me for a while. It was only supposed to be temporary, just until she got back on her feet, but the whole problem is that as long as she's with me she can't make things right with her family.

So now the situation is that she has to make a choice - me or them. And I care about her too much to just give her up, but I know that fighting for her is only going to make things worse for her, and then she'll wind up resenting me for destroying something she was trying to salvage.
