General Personality: Ginny is a bright and vivacious girl. She's stubborn, she's opinionated and she has a fierce temper that leads to her bickering with others easily. It's hard for her to keep her mouth shut or for her to keep her temper in check - whether that results in her telling someone off of hitting them with a good hex.
As the youngest of 7 children and the only girl, Ginny has always been annoyingly overprotected. She's fully capable of taking care of herself, but she's constantly being treated like she isn't. She was never allowed to play Quidditch with the boys and she's generally kept out of things they consider to be too "dangerous" for her. Ginny doesn't let that stop her, though. Maybe her determination to prove herself has made her even more daring, but she's unwilling to just sit around while others have adventures if she can help it.
Ginny is a friendly girl and has always been popular with her school mates. While she clammed up around Harry for the first few years she knew him, Ginny was always outgoing and talkative with everyone else and she made friends easily in school. She feels a little more comfortable in her friendships with boys, as she's always been something of a tomboy, but she had a few girl friends, too, namely Hermione who she considers her friend just as much as Ron and Harry's, even if they are always going off without her.
She can be snarky and mean when she's angry or she simply doesn't like someone, as evidenced by the way she talked about Fleur or the things she's said to Ron in anger. In the case of someone she cares about, she does have the grace to feel mildly guilty afterward - at least once she's calmed down and stopped being angry.
HistoryHistory: Ginevra Molly Weasley was born the seventh child and only girl to Molly and Arthur Weasley in Ottery St. Catchpole. Being the only girl born into the Weasley family for several generations made the rest of the family extremely overprotective of Ginny, something that has always grated on her. She was never allowed to join in on the fun when the boys played quidditch and as the youngest she watched the lot of them head off to Hogwarts without her year after year until it was finally her turn.
When she was 10, she saw Harry Potter for the first time and was instantly smitten with him. Ginny was a normally talkative and vivacious little girl, but she clammed right up around Harry. Despite her nervousness around him, though, she couldn't wait to see him again.
Ginny's first year of Hogwarts went far from smoothly. She felt just as left out and underestimated with her brothers as she always had. She'd grown tired of the coddling and being treated as the baby and when she found a diary tucked inside one of her schoolbooks, she poured her heart into the pages, ranting about the way her siblings treated her, about her unrequited feelings for Harry, who saw her as just a little kid, too. The diary was more than a simple diary, though, and she soon found herself doing things she couldn't remember doing, losing bits and pieces of time. It ended with her being lured into the Chamber of Secrets, having her very life drained from her by the young Tom Riddle whose soul was trapped in that diary.
Harry saved her from the Chamber of Secrets, which really only strengthened her feelings for him, but over the years, she started to lose some of her shyness around him. She opened up and talked to him more and the pair of them built a friendship. In the meantime, though, she made her share of other friends, too. She spent time with other students in her year, she became close to Hermione and she even started to date as she grew older. Ginny didn't seem to stay in any one relationship for very long, but she certainly became her own person, existing independently of Harry and of her family.
It was at the end of Ginny's third year when Voldemort returned and Ginny was on of the few who fully believed Harry's side of the story. Though she was afraid of what that return might mean, she refused to let it show. Instead, she put on a brave face, defending Harry to other naysayers and quickly joining Dumbledore's Army when it was formed after Umbridge refused to let them practice defensive spells. Ginny was naturally good at hexes, but being a part of the DA further improved her skills and gave her an excuse to spend more time with Harry, not that she would have admitted to caring about
that at the time.
Ginny's fourth year certainly wasn't an easy one for her. It was frustrating not to be let in on the Order meetings during the summer prior, it was just as frustrating having to keep her tongue when Umbridge insisted that Voldemort wasn't really back and she was devastatingly afraid when her father was attacked by Nagini at the Ministry. All the training in the DA couldn't protect the rest of her family and she worried something would happen to them.
She did have Quidditch to distract her, at least, even if she was only playing Seeker when she'd much rather Chase. Still, she enjoyed playing on the team and she didn't even care that a victory against Ravenclaw helped to end her relationship with Michael Corner. She was proud of how she'd played and happy to have something taking her mind off of more serious things. That distraction didn't last long, though, and towards the end of the term it seemed as though Sirius had been captured by Voldemort. Despite Harry's protests, Ginny went along in a rescue attempt. She held her own in the battle, though she did come away with a broken ankle after a Death Eater grabbed her. She recovered quickly, though, well enough to find the time to land in a relationship with Dean Thomas by the time they all traveled home for the summer holidays.
Fifth years saw her being recruited into the Slug Club when Slughorn saw her hex Zacharias Smith, though Ginny was a little bored with it to be honest. Fame and glory weren't anything she cared about and she'd much rather spend her time with Dean, her other friends or playing Quidditch. Ron, of course, was less than pleased at seeing her snog Dean and they had a big row as a result. Ron was just jealous, she assumed, because she was actually getting snogged. Their relationship was strained over this for a time until Ron ended up accidentally poisoned by mead that was meant for Dumbledore. As furious as she'd been, Ginny did love her brother and seeing him almost die prompted her to forgive him for their fight.
As the year wore on, she and Harry grew closer and by the time she returned to school after the winter holidays, she was feeling a little less enthusiastic about her relationship with Dean. They bickered a lot and eventually she ended things with him, returning more to her friendly and bubbly self and spending time with Ron, Hermione, Harry and her other friends. She found herself playing Seeker again when Harry was suspended from playing for the rest of the term and it was after winning the match against Ravenclaw during the post-match celebrations in the common room that Harry finally kissed her. Ginny was ecstatic, of course, though they didn't have much time together between her preparations for O.W.L.s and his detentions.
The relationship with Harry was short-lived, though. In the aftermath of Dumbledore's death, Harry ended things with her. Ginny understood, of course, though it didn't make it easier to bear. Rather than letting her hurt and her worry for him show, though, she focused on helping with the plans for Bill and Fleur's wedding which would be at the end of the summer.
The summer holidays passed quickly and soon she was sitting at home waiting with her mother as the others went to retrieve Harry from his Aunt and Uncle's home. She hated being left behind, left to wait and worry when she would much rather be doing something. That worry grew as people missed their portkeys, though she started to relax as Harry, Hermione and her family members returned one by one to the Burrow. The deaths of Mad Eye and Hedwig saddened her, but she was glad that her family was all right.
On Harry's seventeenth birthday, she kissed him, unsure of what else to give him for his birthday. Something to remember her by, she'd told him, but a part of her had just wanted an excuse. It was shortly after that moment when she found herself in a bizarre place with only the clothes on her back and her wand. She's not sure where she is or why, but she's determined to find a way home.
OtherThree Random Facts: x She learned to fly by helping herself to her brothers' brooms when they weren't looking.

x She's always wanted a pet of her own. She wanted a dog, but settled for a pygmy puff.
What Were They Doing Before They Were Taken?: Walking to her room on the evening of Harry's 17th birthday.
Third Person Sample: as Annie RuncornFirst Person Sample:[Private.]Seeing Harry is... I can't describe it. I'm relieved he's all right, but there's an ache in my chest and I almost don't know how to act or what to say. I miss him. It's ridiculous to say that when he's right here, but it's true. He's here, but things aren't the same. I keep wanting to.. one more reason to hate Voldemort, I suppose.
[/Private.]Mum has been driving me mad with everything that needs to be done for Bill and Fleur's wedding. It's as if she thinks she can will all the badness in the world away by focusing on seating charts and menus.
