Well, not only can you keep in touch with friends without having to deal with owls and meet new people, but sometimes people forget to ward certain entries and you'll learn the most interesting things. ~~Like who's flirting with who and who's mad at who etc.~~

Maybe its just a girl thing, but I do love watching people gossiping forgetting that everyone can read.
