Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Characters: Sunny, Apple, Sam, and Jo
Setting: April 2019
Content: SFW
Summary: Sunny rolls back into town with a few surprises for her boys

It had been two long years away from everyone she ever really cared about but it was two years that she needed to sort herself out. She was a mess when she skipped town; pregnant and newly made into a werewolf. She knew she was a danger to her friends and family, she was a danger to herself but best she fall apart by herself than surrounded by others. So she took her bike and she rode off, sending sporadic text messages to Tatum or her brother every once in awhile; aside from that it was radio silence.

Sunny found a werewolf pack just outside of a small town in New Orleans. She ran with them, was accepted into their group, and later gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She raised Jo with the other cubs in the pack for two years before she was ready to go back home. She said goodbye to the pack, traded in her motorcycle for a junker car, and left her new life.

It was a long ride back home but she knew what she would find at the other end and she knew she had to face them all one day or another.

Once she was back in town it was easy to find them all. She had heard that Sam was living with Tatum and Michiko and Apple wasn't too far down the road from them. She supposed Apple was the first to deal with, seeing as though Jo had been asking about her pa since the day she could speak. She had steeled her nerves and headed for his house but at the last minute, turned and drove to the city park instead. She thought she might be able to buy herself more time; just a few more minutes before she had to face him.

"Momma, where goin?" Jo asked as Sunny hiked her up on her hip and walked through the park with their matching bandanas.

"We're gonna go play some Jo baby," Sunny grinned at the little girl.

"Then meet papa?"

"Yeah kid, just like I told ya," Sunny looked away though. She had been trying to play it down like it was no big deal. What if Apple didn't want anything to do with her? What if he was content with his bachelor life and wanted nothing to do with the girl? She had remembered Apple as the irresponsible type but it was two years ago. He could have changed. But what if he didn't?

Sunny was entirely lost in her thoughts when two familiar voices pulled her out of her revery. So much for getting some time to pull her head back together.

"Sunny fucking Garcia!" Apple and Sam both sounded at the same time. She looked across the park to see that they were playing basketball together. Of course they were, typical fucking male bonding. She scrunched up her nose but made her decision then and there not to back down.

"Come on Jo baby," she whispered to her daughter. "It's now or never."

She walked across the park while the boys jogged to meet her in the middle. Sam and Apple both hugged her fiercely. "You been gone for two damn years woman!" Sam grinned. "How the hell ya been?" he covered his mouth then, his cheeks going red. "Sorry little miss," he said tipping his hat to Jo.

"Don't worry about it," Sunny said bouncing Jo. "She's heard worse in her time."

"How old is she?" Sam asked. "Kia's six now and I got two twin boys that are almost two," he beamed.

"She's two," Sunny said vaguely, avoiding eye contact with both of them.

There was a heavy moment of silence. "So... who's her dad?" Apple asked slowly. He was examining the girl more closely now.

"Jo baby," Sunny said, pulling the little girl around so she was looking right at her. "You see the swing set over there?"

"The big one?!" Jo asked.

"Yeah, that one!" Sunny said brightly. "I need you to go over to that big swing set and wave to me when you get there. Then take fifty whole swings all by yourself, okay?"

Jo blushed and nodded. "I can momma."

Sunny set her down and watched her run off. She kept her eyes trained on the girl the whole time. "So... I got some news for you two. I ran off two years ago cause I was a mess. I was messing with both of you and if you didn't know it then, you know it now," they both nodded, of course they had known. "I'm sorry."

"So... one of us is the dad?" Apple asked.

"Actually... you are," she said poking Apple in the chest. "I know because of the timing and you know... situations."

"Mine?" Apple felt a rock in his chest. "I... I..."

"I know. I should have better prepared you for it. I'm sorry Apple, I just..."

Apple pulled her into a hug without any warning. "Damn it Sun, you shoulda told me. I coulda helped girl," he said squeezing her fiercely. "She's beautiful Sunny," he whispered.

Sunny hugged him back. "I know," she wiped a tear and sniffled. "Well... I was scared that she wouldn't make it cause um..." she turned to Sam. "This is the part that concerns you friend... one night... you turned when we were together and... you bit me," she looked away because she couldn't bare the look on his face. "I'm fine Sam really, I just... I turned that night and... Jo turned because I was pregnant with her when I turned. I didn't know if she would make it and I didn't want risk telling you until I was sure we were fine. So that's why I ran away."

There was silence for a long time until Jo came crashing back into Sunny's legs, hugging them tight. "Momma! I did fifty two swings! Why you cryin? Now we go?" she giggled as Sunny lifted her up.

"Good job Jo," she said, wiping at her eyes again. She brushed some of Jo's hair behind her ear and kissed her on the forehead. "Jo, I uh... I need to introduce some of my friends to you. Then we can go find a place to stay, okay?"

Jo nodded and regarded the two men with curiosity. She recognized them from photos that her mom had but Sunny had never really talked about them.

"Jo, this is Sam. Sam this is my daughter Jo," Sam waved and took Jo's little hand, giving it a shake and receiving a giggle from the little girl. "And this is Apple, Apple is your papa."

Apple wasn't sure what to do so he extended his hand only to receive a whole toddler crawling into his arms. Jo snuggled into him as he hugged her fiercely and protectively.

"Are you crying dude?" Sunny teased, wiping away her own tears.

"Yeah I'm crying," Apple laughed. "I'm meeting my baby girl for the first time."

"Let's get your asses to my place," Sam said wrapping an arm around Sunny's shoulders and giving her a squeeze. "T, Michi, and I have some extra room."

"You sure your girlfriend won't mind?" Sunny asked raising an eyebrow. Some things had changed, in fact most of them had, but her penchant for homewrecking was still completely intact. It wasn't that she tried terribly hard but if she had her eyes set on someone, he was hers. If she was being honest, she had always had eyes for Sam Ruiz, it was just a matter of time.

Sam grinned easily. "Don't you worry about her."

"Come on ya freaks," Apple said, already leading the way back to the house, proudly carrying his daughter as they went.
