I was told there would be a 'rules' section.
Fair enough. Because rules are as tedious to write as they are to read, we're just going to skip the obvious and move on to more specific concerns. Just know that the usual etiquette applies, and if future actions or behavior do raise a concern, your friendly mod will contact you, and this section will be amended.

Why Scribbld?
Since the site is relatively new, it boasts broader username availability and a generous icon capacity -- not to mention LiveJournal/InsaneJournal's ad placement is incredibly obnoxious.

What characters are allowed?
Characters from books and short stories. That's it. No plays, poems, or original works.

Is there a limit to the amount of characters I can apply for?
The number of characters a single user can play is currently limited to 7. Additionally, try not to apply for too many characters from the same bookverse.

My character's an animal -- can I play them as a person? A furry?
No, sorry. Unless it becomes a plot point in the future, all animals are to remain animals.

Somebody has already applied for a character from my character's book! Do I have to lift my character from the timeline that they chose?
Yes. To avoid confusion, all characters from the same book must be lifted from the same point in their canon. If a member arrived before you and applied for a character from your canon, the time/page/chapter that they chose has been fixed at that point.

But my character is dead!
Character deaths, canon and otherwise, are currently being rerouted to Dictionopolis by order of the CC, so you may apply for a character that has died.

What about slash?
This one's a bit tricky. A lot of people slash their characters for sheer titillation, which can often be in direct opposition to the accuracy of their characterization. Slash WILL be allowed ONLY if there is a good amount of subtext already present in the source material, and ONLY if you clear it with your partner player first. If they want no part of it, don't push the issue. As with any relationship, we only care that it's in-character.

How do I format my posts in the community?
There is no right or wrong way to format a post, but the following is a skeleton of the average format:

TITLE: (an optional title for the roleplay; some people like to do this)
CHARACTER(S): (who is involved. If your thread is "open", say so here)
TYPE: (thread? Log? Narrative? Scroll down to the next section and I will define these for you!)
LOCATION: (please include bookverse)
RATING: (what rating would you give your content? Any warnings? If you don't know, just put "TBD")
SUMMARY: (a brief summary, if you like)
STATUS: (complete? Incomplete? This is useful for updating the timeline in the mod journal)

Or even:

WHO:
WHAT:
WHERE:
WHEN:
WHY:
It is also common for people to place the content of their post under a cut. If your post is on the longer side, this practice is highly encouraged. ;-)

What are the different types of posts?
- A thread is when two or more characters participate in a single post.
- A log is when players roleplay outside of the community (on AIM, for example) and then post the finished product in the community for others to read.
- A narrative is a closed narrative, written by a single character, and may also be posted to the main community.
- Backplay is also allowed -- users can backdate a roleplay to some point before the current timeline, if they wish to develope their characters or own storylines further.

WHY DO YOU HATE "TWILIGHT"?
We don't hate it, per se (okay, maybe Mars does a little, and Mars is the one who is writing this), but there are plenty of other roleplays out there right now that will afford you the opportunity to play out your Twilight and Harry Potter muses. Due to the popularity of both series, there were concerns about this roleplay being overrun by those characters, so we thought it best to eliminate them entirely. While we are not currently allowing these characters, this is subject to change in the future -- and if you have a really neat idea about how your character might fit into the community's storyline, don't be afraid to apply anyway.
