Who: Robins Wedding Party/Guests (group thread)
Where: The reception hall
When: Saturday evening

Ashlyn felt like her day had been one giant whirl. The ceremony had gone off perfectly, all of her friends were there and everyone was having such a great day. It was probably a horrible thought but being the center of attention--for a good reason--was a refreshing change. She'd heard everything from 'I can hardly tell you were carrying your boyfriend's bastard child this morning' from her Gran to 'Oh my GOSH, your hair Ashlyn!' from Iris (which promptly lead to a discussion about being the married 7th years and a bit of female bonding).

"I'd say it's about time for the bride and groom to have their first dance," she heard over the speakers of the music system. Ashlyn's cheeks blushed lightly as Keegan came up to her, gently grabbing her hand and kissing it before leading her to the floor. A slower version of the Beatle's "Maybe I'm Amazed" began to play as they embraced, all of Ashlyn's focus now on Keegan.

Holly!

Even though he'd gone a few weeks dreading this night, Dirk was finding himself very happy and light. He really did love weddings, maybe one of the few men who did, and was glad that his friend had found his true love so early in life. Well--it seemed like everyone around their age was finding their soul mate (or at least--the other half of the gene pool they needed to create children), so Dirk wasn't sure how special the Robins were (ha!) but it was still very nice to see.

Oh, hell. It was far more than he was going to do in the near future, so he had to give it up to them!

Keeping one eye open for his cousin Darien, Dirk used his other eye to try to find Holly. He really, really did not mean to ask her to the wedding as a date date. He didn't! Not that there was anything wrong with Holly, oh no. She was very funny and kind, and seemed to enjoy listening (and sharing!) all these stories about magical creatures with him. So--he would definitely have regretted canceling on her, and it would've been rather hard to avoid her when they were both attending the same wedding.

So---Darien was going to have to suck it up.

Hopefully that wouldn't involve Darien killing him.

"Holly!" Dirk let out, uncrossing his eyes (it was hard, trying to watch for two people and walk straight at the same time!) as he spotted her. He trotted over, suddenly feeling very foolish in the dress robes he had to wear, being part of the bridal party. He felt like he looked like a penguin. "Hi, how are you?"

Holly really didn't want to sound corny, but the wedding was so pretty. It was such a lovely day! Plus, all the flowers everywhere made her so cheerful, and them being all Gryffindor colors was such an added bonus. Of course, the bride and groom looked happy too!

On top of it all, she had a date to the wedding. Having an actual date was so much more refreshing then sipping champagne, listening to other women scope out the groomsmen--though, admittedly, that was sort of fun too in a very immature, giggling, girly sort of way.

She waved a friendly hullo to Dirk, smiling. The irony that he was a groomsman was not lost on her, but he was so terribly sweet she couldn't possibly resist attending the wedding with him.

"I'm fine!" Holly exclaimed, standing across from him. She looked him over, the smile on her face increasing. "Oh, you look quite handsome," she teased, hoping to make him turn red.

It was very easy to make Dirk Cresswell blush. Sometimes just saying his name got his ears to turn red, mostly in wonderment that he was actually being acknowledged. So a girl, a pretty girl at that, telling him that he looked 'quite handsome'? Well. Well his face completely flushed and he shrugged putting his arms out to his sides.

"I don't look like a penguin?" he asked, hoping to give himself some time to get rid of the blush he felt heating up his face. He really hoped he didn't look like a penguin, but at least he could attempt to make a joke. Maybe. Sort of. Kinda?

Dirk dropped his arms, motioning toward Holly, "I mean, you--don't look. Like a penguin, so. That's---good." Holy hell, what did he just say? "I mean to say--you look nice. Pretty?"

"Thank you," Holly said promptly, playing with the skirt of her dress. She was so glad that Ashlyn hadn't minded people not wearing dress robes. Holly always thought that they were so stuffy. She had yet to find a dress robe that suited her and wasn't made of some god-awful, thick fabric that was pure torture on spring days like this.

But poor, poor Dirk. He still looked so embarrassed. Maybe she had taken trying to make him blush too far? Perhaps agreeing that he looked like a penguin would be the best solution! Holly nodded emphatically. "You do look a little like a penguin, but I wouldn't worry about it!"

He choked a laugh, feeling a bit better now that he was involved in any sort of joke being made of him. Which wasn't really fair, as Holly had complimented him first, and then he himself had called his outfit a penguin suit, but Dirk figured it was a very awkward and roundabout way of getting comfortable and avoiding anything that might prove embarrassing even further.

Oh well, it's over now. Dwell about it later.

"Are you hungry! Or thirsty? The food looks fabulous, I wish I could go to a wedding every day," he said with a laugh, tugging at the bottom of his sleeves. Dirk smiled kindly at Holly, wondering if he would have to vocalize his offer to fetch her something to eat or drink. Or both! He would definitely be able to handle both.

"I am a little thirty, actually," she told Dirk, watching him tug at his sleeves. She almost wanted to kindly reach out and grab his hand to make him stop, but that might come across far too forward! Besides, Holly was pretty sure that this was just a friendly sort of date-date. Not an actual I'm-interested-in-you sorta thing. Right?

"So, you like weddings?" Holly asked, her brow all furrowed. Most of the time she thought that weddings were very boring--though this one had definitely been sweet. "Or just ones with--what was it? Goblins and merepeople?"
