Gillian
WHO: Edgar and Gillian Bones
WHAT: Edgar arrives home to find a devastating scene
WHERE: Their home
WHEN: Tonight
STATUS: In progress!

These warm days was going to be great for business. Edgar was finally feeling like the owner of the Three Broomsticks and not just some guy who was stuck with all the important paperwork and chores to do. He was looking at the numbers and trying to find ways to get people people into the restaurant, he was really trying to create a place that people would automatically flock to no matter the time of year or day and---it was just a good feeling. It was a really good feeling, and it was something to put his mind off of the war with. If he could focus on the Three Broomsticks during the day, he wouldn't be constantly consumed with the efforts of the Order and all the troubles they've been going through.

And you know, with another baby on the way, he really needed business to pick up to keep his family afloat. That was the biggest part, really. Edgar had been without a job for so long that he'd started to feel like he wasn't cut out to be a dad, or a husband. What kind of man isn't able to provide for his family, even for the littlest of things? Now that he was in charge of the restaurant, Edgar finally felt like he had found the place where he belonged. And, sometimes, that led him to take longer shifts than usual, even an hour or two after closing. Gillian was now home, the early pregnancy symptoms taking a toll on his wife, so Edgar didn't mind doing extra work around the place while his wife rested up. She was creating a new life, he could deal with some invoices and dirty dishes.

Life was really starting to pick up for the Bones family. Emilie was going to have a little sister (Rose, Rosie, Edgar had already dubbed the tiny bump of Gilly's stomach that, but who knew if it would last for the rest of the pregnancy---), he and Gilly were going to actually be prepared for this baby, and they'd finally feel like adults in this crazy world.

When he disapparated home, landing on his front porch, all of Edgar's dreams and wishes vanished because the sight of the front door of his house knocked off its hinges, flaming on the ground a few feet in front of him sent his mind into a blank, devastated stupor. He could only stare at the door as it slowly burnt out, the charred wood crackling off and onto the carpet. Edgar sucked in a breath and gulped, pulling his wand out slowly. He should be screaming and running into the mess he was about to encounter, but the idea that---Gillian was just a few feet away, dead---or that Emilie was with her....it completely shut down every nerve in his body, and tears began to stream down his face.

"G-Gillian!" he croaked, not bothering to put out the last of the door's flames as he stepped around it. If they were dead, he would die, there was no point in trying to stop the fire, or to fight back---Edgar cautiously looked through the doorways, hoping to not find his wife, that she'd escaped with the baby and that this was all just a bad dream, "Gilly! Where are you! Are you here!"
