Archie!
Her husband was doing a very, very good job at the Ministry. Such a good job, in fact, that he'd taken to sometimes going in the office on Sundays to get a jump start on the week. Which was good, he was a good worker, a hard worker (Izzie often forgot that he was not a Hufflepuff), and he impressed his superiors (which there were fewer of, as her husband gained more and more success!). So fine, sure, that was all swell and good, but on a beautiful Sunday with Ernie at his grandparents and all the acres upon acres of the MacMillan Manor empty save for Izzie and the mouse she could not catch, she really wanted her husband to be a slacker. To lie in bed all day with her without a care in the world and simply relax and be peaceful.

Being alone in the manor only managed to remind Izzie that she was still not pregnant even after months of trying and jumping Archie at every possible second. She knew there was a timing issue, of course, but she couldn't seem to figure it out. How had they made Ernie without a second thought (or any thought, really--) and now that a sibling was desired, it seemed like a hopeless case? Izzie reminded herself, as she stood on a chair in the kitchen to shriek at the mouse that had darted under the fridge, that she actually was a hard-working Hufflepuff and should take matters into her own hands.

It didn't take her long to get to the Ministry, and she was surprised to see that it actually wasn't a desolate work place on Sunday morning. There were people moving about, definitely not as busy as it would be tomorrow, but there were some other workaholics that had come in today. Izzie waved her visitor's pass at the security guard and made her way up to where Archie's office was, and when she reached his door took a moment to smile and observe her husband in his element. She tightened the yellow spring coat around her smiled, "You've got a guest, Mr. MacMillan."

Archie was, in fact, doing a very, very good job at the Ministry. Had that Order of Merlin (Second Class!) to live up to, didn't he? His brother didn't have one of those, no sir, and don't think Archie didn't find every excuse possible to bring that up! Of course, there was the slight drawback to having the award, namely that he'd lain in a magical coma for days, thus missing the birth of his first child—the same child whose first birthday he'd also missed, having been unconscious in an abandoned basement floor of the Ministry at the time… this was a terrible train of thought.

The point was, of course, that Archie felt obliged to show his superiors that he was on top of it, that he was deserving of his success. He could do it all! He had it all! The perfect (if quirky) wife, the darling first born son, an Order of Merlin (Second Class!), the quickly advancing career—really, what more could he ask for?

If, at times, he felt a little scared that his life was too perfect and this would all be snatched away from him again, and to appease himself, and the fates he believed were transpiring against him, he buried himself into work to make sure he was doing his part to earn all this perfection and happiness and keep it… well, who could fault him, really? There was this feeling of tightness around his heart every time he looked at that picture on his desk, of he and pretty blonde Isobel laughing and smiling as baby Ernie's hand tugged an errant lock of her blonde hair, that perhaps it wouldn't last. He'd come so very close, hadn't he? More than once.

Archie's brows drew together as he examined report after report from a large pile of scrolls atop his desk, occasionally stopping to scribble on a parchment and tap it with his wand so it zoomed out and away to its intended recipient. He massaged his chin his exasperated bafflement as he perused the one unrolled in his hand. "Pantsless magician in Derbyshire," he muttered to himself, squinting at the fine print detailing the man's latest antics, "real spells with no recorded lineage nor tutoring, oh, that is peculiar…"

At the sound of a voice, Archie didn't look up so much as wave a hand in noncommittal response, saying, "Yes, yes, show them in—"

Wait.

His head jerked up a moment later, surprised to see not his assistant, but his wife! "Isobel!" he cried with a smile. "What are you doing here?" His face then abruptly fell.

"Oh no, did we have lunch plans I forgot about?"

Izzie ducked out of the way of one of the flying memos and grinned widely at Archie's surprise. It really took a lot to get him out of his workflow, didn't it? Izzie rolled her eyes lightly and shut the door behind her, coming forward and pressing her hands to the front of his desk to lean over it and give her husband a much wanted, and needed, kiss.

"Don't worry, love, this was done by my own spontaneous self," Izzie said with a laugh, sitting on the edge of his desk and toying with the knick kancks he had so neatly organized. She usually met Archie by the Atrium, or the statue of the wizarding world, so it was always a somewhat thrilling experience to be in his office. Izzie had always seen ministry jobs as stifling, forcing you to hide your inhibitions and creativity, but Archie always came home full of stories, his voice loud with excitement as if he were unable to believe half the things the was telling her.

She smiled, kicking her foot out a bit. She couldn't get distracted, she was a Hufflepuff on a mission. Izzie dropped back down to the floor and let out a breath, taking off her coat and showing off her strapless, flowy spring dress she had just purchased on her way here. She put her best, 'Come hither, look at me,' face and tried to strike a sexy pose.

"Do you like it?"

Archie's jaw dropped open.

Had he fallen asleep looking at all those reports? Was this, though he didn't like to admit it to himself, much less outloud, one of those dreams that occasionally happened when he drifted off at work after a very pleasant lunch and interminable amounts of paperwork?

Oh, he hoped not. But Archie dared not pinch himself just yet, just in case.

He cleared his throat and looked down to his lap, back up to Isobel, then back down to his desk and assorted paperwork. "It's, erm, it's—" he tried to surreptitiously loosen the collar of his robes, "it's very lovely. You—erm—you are just… so very lovely."

Merlin, keep it together, man!

Gulping ever so slightly, he dared to look back up at her, who was very much still present, still smiling down at him like a cat with a canary feather in her mouth.

Izzie very much enjoyed the completely shocked expression that had quickly come across her husband's face. That was exactly what she'd been aiming for, and now that she'd managed to strike him dumb she felt more and more courage surge up inside her. Izzie pressed her arms to her side, trying to accentuate the little bit of chest she'd gained after being pregnant with Ernie, wondering how she'd ever seduced this man in the first place. Maybe she should just bend over and do some yoga again, that seemed to work for her. She had to completely mesmerize Archie if she wanted to get him to do what she wanted him to do.

Which was her.

She moved closer, bending forward and pressing her hands into the arms of his chair, her hair falling over her shoulders. Izzie had made sure to use the nice smelling shampoo that Archie always commented on, hoping that he became entranced by the scent and wouldn't notice that they'd begun shagging right there in his office. It always took Archie a moment or two to get over his shock with her, so Izzie took the opportunity to clamber onto her husband's lap, making sure to breathe heavily and pout her lips.

"Only 'so very' lovely?" she whimpered, batting her eyes as her hands went to the back of his neck, tugging playfully at his hair.
