Unlike some of the young mothers in her friends' circle, Vivica did not have a mother of her own to help with some of the nitty gritty details of being a mommy, of directing a household and keeping a husband. Given that her marriage had been going strong for three years and produced an heir already, Vivica knew she was doing well. On the topic of her friends, perhaps not so well, given that Avery had trouble staying put around some of her friends, but perhaps all he needed was more exposure to them. She sat in the breakfast nook, an early afternoon sunbeam pouring light onto the table. Bond was playing quietly at her feet, something he was very good at. Vivica had some things to do outside of the house, but she waited, her nails tapping gently on the teacup as she waited for that loud 'pop' which startled Bond only slightly, and the familiar footsteps as Avery approached them. She smoothed her hand over Bond's soft baby hair to soothe him. Vivica gave Avery a surprised look, specifically contrived just for this occasion, she had sent the owl herself. "You're home early, darling, shall I have tea brought back?"

He would have been home earlier if he had been able to get out of the very important end-of-year meeting that had been taking place when Vivica's owl swooped in. Luckily, Avery already had a reputation for being quite willing to bend to his wife's whims so he laughed it off and pretended that it was just what to bring home for dinner. Of course he managed to open the envelope while his creative director when about on their new campaign. It was supposedly the most brilliant piece of advertising their agency had ever seen, but all Avery could wrap his mind around was that big streak of blue.

He felt quite dizzy, and the rest of the meeting had gone by through a whirlwind blur. Avery knew he'd been assigned something, but his receptionist would have the details, he just needed to skirt out early to get home. Vivica had side-swiped him so hard with this news---a baby and a house? What was wrong with their home? Bond's room was---it could be bigger, for sure, but---

Avery flipped the announcement card over in his hands, looking interested in every movement of his wife, nodding about the tea. They had not even been trying, she had not been swiftly capturing him in attempts to get pregnant like with Bond. This was a complete, and utter surprise. Avery was not very good at surprises, but this one wasn't a particularly bad one.

"I do not wish to live near Sloper and Aubrey," he said, a smile playing on his lips as he headed closer. Avery dropped the announcement onto the table, leaning on his hand, "How near is 'near'?" He would avoid the more important matter for now.

"Tea, Impy," Vivica said, raising her voice just slightly and within moments the house-elf had the tea service back on the table and she shifted slightly leaning back in her chair with a thoughtful, but oh-so-smug grin on her face. She liked being surprising, she liked having one up on her husband, the Ravenclaw. Never to make him feel stupid, but in their own little sort of competition. Vivica would never let him know that this baby was unplanned and a surprise to her as well, he never had to know about that part, of course. Just to roll with it and take credit for something that could clearly not be wrong.

"I would have thought you'd figure that out sooner," Vivica said, tilting her chin a little challengingly. "Close enough to make flooing easier, but far enough that they cannot simply drop in. Zach is basically the worst Slytherin husband ever, being a housewife for his wife. Do you think I want to have all of his inane questions about stains and mucus?" Without looking down she took the square block that Bond was now holding up between them and held it out for him. It was not play time right now, but in her own home Vivica was not going to repeat the same mistakes as her own parents and have an overly spoiled, ignored heir like her brother. "Find a neighborhood with houses for sale, suggest it to Zach and Bertram and then wait for them to buy their houses, and then buy ours in a neighborhood nearby. Something like our house wouldn't sell first, whatever creative excuse you can come up with. I know you're good at them."

This plot had been brewing for a long time, it seemed. Avery had no desire to live on the same continent as Sloper and Aubrey, but Vivica couldn't seem to let the boys go. Living 'near' to them meant that he could shirk away whenever they became too bothersome, which may not particularly be a bad thing. Avery of course could not allow it to be known that he had been so easily convinced, and kept a neutral expression. He bent down and picked up Bond, eyebrows going high,

"We'll see," he said, though he had heard Chapman talking about a nearly all wizard area just outside of London that seemed ideal. The baby pressed his hands against Avery's face and he stretched his neck to find some way to actually speak, "And...you said before July?"

Early July? Late July? How far along exactly was Vivica and how long had she known about it? Avery was all about being informed, whether it was his business or not. This certainly was his business however, and he shifted Bond in his arms to find a more comfortable position. A little brother, hm? Avery had never wanted a sibling of his own, but the idea of Bond not being alone all his life pleased him.
