The Ravenclaw Common Room!
Phoebe rocked back and forth on her heels, finding herself quite nervous.

"It's really late and I've been studying very hard for my exams, so if I could get a hint, please?" She knew it was to no avail, and for the third time the Eagle knocker on the door of the Ravenclaw Common Room slowly let out the night's riddle,

I'm the part of the bird that's not in the sky. I can swim in the ocean and yet remain dry. What am I?

She let out a puff of air and dropped down flat on her feet. Okay, okay Pheebs, think! It couldn't be an impossible answer, because she heard voices beyond the door, so someone must have answered it already. Knowing that the riddle had already been solved made Phoebe flush slightly; she should be able to do this, dang it, she was a prefect! Okay, okay. Let's talk this out.

"Part of the bird? I suppose the first question to your question is that how could it be a literal part of the bird if it's not up in the sky with it? It can't be, there for it's not a literal part, but what, is it its mind? Or more like the soul?" Phoebe waited a beat but when the door did not open she continued to question the question, "It's not a physical object, that's for sure---you can't swim in the ocean without getting wet, unless, again, you're not an actual....if it's not in the sky, it's on the ground, is it always with the bird?"

Her mind shot to the image of the Ravenclaw eagle soaring through the sky, and her thoughts helped her travel down to the ground; what would she see? Phoebe's eyes lit up and she puffed her chest slightly, "A shadow?"

The door clicked open and Phoebe let out a properly pleased sound as she skipped into the common room.

So really, Delilah hadn't planned to stay as long as she did. No really, she didn't like staying the night in other houses. She was a Gryffindor, she slept in Gryffindor Tower. Especially when it came to Avery Sloan. They were not dating. Therefore she did not sleep over.

Except this once. He was rather convincing.

Although, she hadn't quite decided if it was worth the walk of shame she was currently doing. Luckily, she woke up early enough that she could sneak out before he could realize she was gone. She tried her best to smooth out her shirt so it wasn't so obviously wrinkled. Now all she had to do was get down the boys dormitory stairs and through the common room and she'd be golden.

She made it all the way down the stairs when she heard a door from above open and shut. She picked up speed as she turned to make sure no one was coming down after her, which was a bad idea as she walked right into a someone.

"Oh. Ah. Sorry. Didn't see you there." she said quickly. Christ it was like eight in the morning on a Saturday, what was anyone doing up at this time.

With just one more match to go, Thomas knew that he needed all the practice on the pitch he could get. He couldn't join one of those summer leagues because of his sister; Catriona said it would create too much of a scene if she showed up at one of his matches, and did he really want all those photographers taking pictures of his mistakes? At least at Hogwarts it was only family that could come to the matches, he wouldn't have to feel the pressure. If he wanted to make the pros on anything other than his last name, he needed to know that he was the best coming out---next year was his last year at Hogwarts, and this match would be the last thing he had to really gain the experience he needed until next September.

Thomas answered the knocker's riddle quickly, even in his tired state, and trudged into the common room. He'd been on the pitch since five, glad that the Gryffindors hadn't slated an early practice like they'd been known to do with their psychotic captains. With his broom sitting on his one shoulder and his charmed quaffle under his other arm, Thomas began up the stairs...only to get run into. Everything clattered to the floor as his eyes had been on the ground, and he let out a groan.

He grumbled and dropped down to pick up his stuff and when he started back up he noticed that the pair of legs in front of him were in a skirt, and for a quick second he thought he had gone up the wrong stair case. The red and gold trim told him otherwise, though, and Thomas stood up and realized that it was Delilah Spinnet racing out of the boys' dormitory.

"You're not a Ravenclaw," he said bluntly, eyebrows high with disdain.

"Ten points to Ravenclaw." Delilah said with a grin. "Would you also like to point out that I'm a girl?" She probably shouldn't be teasing him, but it was so much fun.

"Don't worry, I was just on my way out. That is unless you wanna give me a reason to stay." She gave him a wink. She was kidding of course. Delilah liked to have her fun but there were limits.

She tried sidestepping him but with all the things he was carrying and the narrow staircase made it practically impossible. "Quidditch, huh. And I thought Charlie had crazy practice hours."

Thomas sputtered, his face flushing immediately at what she was insinuating. He was not the kind of bloke that brought girls back to the dorm and let them walk out by themselves! Of course, he'd never actually brought a girl back to the dorm, but that was besides the point. Whatever bloke had brought Delilah in just to let her sneak out in the morning was a right pillock and---

"You're not supposed to be here!" was all he could let out, and at the mention of Charlie, her brother, her twin, and Keeper for the Gryffindor team, Thomas' face grew even redder, "We're playing Gryffindor next week! You could be a spy!"

Maybe he'd gotten up too early today, but it was easier than discussing why she was really there. Thomas moved to more securely keep her in place, "Who were you with?"

Delilah's grin grew, pleased with how red this boy was turning and the sputtering. It was pretty adorable. Almost reminded her of --- well it was just cute. Maybe he was worth a bit more of her time after all.

She snorted in laughter once he managed a sentence though. "A spy? Oh you boys sure do take your quidditch seriously don't you? Obviously you don't know me at all. I do not care for quidditch much at all. Much prefer dueling, far more exciting."

Her brows raised as he asked who she was with. "Aww, you can't ask such things. A lady never kisses and tells."
